My very first ever piece of clothing that I made without a pattern! I'm so proud of it! Excuse the horrible picture of my face, and the "grilled cheese" shirt I've got on under, lol.
I made it out of a really cool twin-size sheet I found at Goodwill.
I'm planning on using the newspaper pattern I made to make another, as soon as I can find another sheet of comparable awesomeness I've found a couple things I'd like to tweak for the next go-round that would just be too much work to fix on this one (I should have gathered the bust pieces more where they meet the waist piece, but I would basically have to take the whole thing apart to change it now). Because of this, I think it might fit a friend of mine better than it fits me, so after I've got a cool new one for myself, I may give her this one so she can stop wishing it was hers
Aww, I'm kinda sad my Chi pass-down doesn't really show up in the picture... it's pretty cool lookin'. It's been passed from each 3rd Floor Cox Hall RA to the next since 2003... (Chi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longwood_University#CHI ) It looks basically black in the pic, but it's actually royal blue. I loves it It hasn't escaped my excitement over my sewing machine either -- I hemmed it last week because it was getting really frayed and ratty around the edges... guess that's what happens when you just chop a piece of fabric into a square and turn it into an institutional heirloom, lol.
