81  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / slippers inspired by Lydia the tranges tutorial updated on: June 28, 2009 12:35:28 AM
I found Lydia's tutorial and was ispired by it's siplicity. I didn't use the same stitches or counting. I also changed the placement of the strap and made it button. All in all I am happy with them. I can't wait to see the many variations I can come up with.

I made a few more slippers

Those became these
82  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / beret and wrist warmers- yes I know it is summer on: June 27, 2009 08:13:48 PM
I made a pair of wrist warmers for my HP HBP swap partner, so I decided to make a pair for my daughter. I also made her a hat to match. It was my first time to make a hat, second for the wrist warmers and I made up the pattern. Not bad for a start.

here it is pulled down to keep the ears warm
83  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / market bags on: June 27, 2009 08:07:32 PM
I have been addicted to yarn lately and wanted something for summer. They work great for the farmers market and the beach. Saddly, I have only been able to try them at the farmer's market.
84  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / botanical slide charms on: May 29, 2009 12:35:11 AM
These are keepsake pressings, made into charms. The microscope slides I purchase had white spaces for labeling. I decided to write their scientific names there. I wish my handwriting was a little better. This first picture is my bleeding heart, to remind me of Grandma's garden, and a fourleaf clover I found at a turning point in my life. You can also see the journal I started.

I also made my sister one.
85  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / two journals on: May 29, 2009 12:12:50 AM
I used some bits from my fairy swap package to decorate some journals. The first one is the swap journal I made.

The other one is a purchase journal. The lace on the front is difficult to see, I also used pressed flowers from my garden. It is sealed with fusible vinyl to protect the flowers.

and the back

I am not sure what I am going to do with the cream colored one, but I love the subtle colors.
86  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / passport cover dimensions on: May 17, 2009 03:07:21 PM
Does anyone know the dimensions of a passport? I would like to make a cover for a swap. Thank you.

88  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Mini Twilight Books on: April 12, 2009 02:40:59 PM
I have been doing alot of small scale journals for jewelry lately, and after seeing the various book charms out of sculpy and shrink plastic, I decided to finally make some mini twilight books. I need to fill them with pics and quotes. I am not sure what to do with them yet. Possibly charms or miniatures for a poppet.

I put them here as I was not sure what to do with them yet.
89  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / A walk down mainstreet on: March 21, 2009 02:25:47 PM
This would be somewhat similar to the meet my hometown swap. Basically, you would commemorate your walk down mainstreet with a few photos and use your experience for inspiration for a craft.

For instance today I took my kids downtown as our sort of spring break activity. We went to worlds window, where they sell freetrade handcrafted items from around the world. We bought music instruments, we could craft something music related; a piece of artwork, a cd case, etc. Then we went to Cup of Joes, a retro coffee shop. This could inspire something retro or a coffee cozy. We stopped at the yarn shop and watched them wind my new baby alpaca yarn. This one is kind of obvious, as well as the bead shop.

Perhaps your main street isn't all crafty shops, maybe you can pick your inspiration from the oak trees lining the street, a library inspires something book related, a rock inspires an earthy craft, etc.
90  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My first poppet (updated) on: March 18, 2009 03:35:28 AM

Updated face pic

I havebeen wanting a poppet for some time and thanks to Ghillie( sorry I know that is not quite right) I was able to make one myself. I actually have several planned, we will see how that works. aparently my sewing machine needs a check up, so this one was sewn by hand. I learned a few things, like the fact that double knit runs, so becareful how you set your eyes. I prefer heavy thread for the sculpting rather than several threads. I couldn't keep the threads all at the same tension, even knotted. A thick head of hair tends to pull the head back.

This one is my Alex poppet, modeled after my daughter in fairy form. She still needs wings. I put a rustic chamise and a simple corset for now. Alex's favorite color is blue, so I chose that as my inpiration.
