72  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Weasley Twin Christmas scarf on: September 09, 2009 09:33:12 PM

I wanted to recreate this for my son who is a big Harry Potter fan. Fred and George happen to be his favorite characters as he loves jokes, and the colors were perfect. He loves orange and green.

Here is my version:

It can wrap around his neck twice like the original, it is about 6' long and 7" wide. I knitted it in garter stitch as i wasn't comfortable knitting in the round yet. I managed to pull all the colors from my stash, but made random striping as I knitted most of it without being able to look at a picture.

In this swap, we will make 1 Halloween interactive ATC for each partner in your group.  You will be making 4 ATCs, 1 for each partner in your group. (There will be 5 people per group). This may change according to number of participants.

FOC's may request to be put in more than one group.

You MUST be willing to ship internationally to join! ATCs are pretty small and cheap to ship, and it will make it so much easier for me when matching partners, and will give the international swappers some variety!

Since ATCs are so small, no DC is required, but if the card doesn't show up, you will be required to resend.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Do you have a favorite Halloween theme/character/movie/tv special?
Anything your partner should know about you? (ie, allergies, dislikes such as religion, nudity, etc)

74  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / pop-up ATC's on: August 18, 2009 04:57:15 AM
I was wondering if anyone was interested in doing a interactive atc swap, similar to the fabric atc swap. Everyone loves pop-up books, how about ATC's.

What timing would you prefer?
75  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Convertable Mittens on: August 11, 2009 01:35:10 PM
I made some convertable mittens out of Alpaca With A Twist Big Baby in gray and Cashmerino Aran in a cranberry red. They match my Fall cape and are incredibly soft.

76  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / great time to learn something new: nalbinding on: August 01, 2009 05:08:12 PM
I have been interested in various medieval crafts for some time now. When I noticed the article about nalbinding, I decided it was a good time to learn. I did a little research watched some videos, and maybe was more confused than before. But there is only one way to learn, so I jumped right in.

I decided I needed some needles first and carved up these, and my thumb

After, I was sure I was finished bleeding all over everything. I used an inexpensive yarn to start, no sense wasting the good stuff.

Without, truely, knowing what I was doing I got started. I even, ambitiousl,y thought I could make a hat.  Grin Unfortunately, I made a mistake I often make in crochet. I tried to increase to fast and ended up with a ripple. You can not just pull out your stitches with nalbinding, so I decided to finish my thread and see what I had.

Not bad if you need a hat for a babydoll.

But we decided it would make a pouch for my daughter

77  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / poster bag on: July 21, 2009 03:34:37 PM
This tote bag was made from two posters that I got in a magazine. They are covered in vinyl and interfaced, so that it is very sturdy. I used scrap webbing and lining fabric that I had on hand.

I made this for the waiting for new moon swap.
78  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / pipecleaner dragon on: July 21, 2009 03:20:32 PM
My nephew came over for some crafty fun. He wanted to make pipe cleaner dragons, so I pulled out my chunkies. We used one chunky and several standard pipe cleaners and felt for the wings and spikes. He is very happy with it.

79  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / botanical ABC's in acrylic on: July 21, 2009 02:24:31 PM
I haven't painted in awhile, I always seem to have trouble with goopy paint on a flimsy brush. I think I like water color better, but I plan to try something again. I used A thru D as those are my families initials. I started with four colors and white.

The dogwood blossoms were suposed to be larger and fewer, but something happened. Maybe I got to close, hmm.

80  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / sneaker slippers on: July 21, 2009 02:15:36 PM
I altered the pattern I had used for my other slippers. I made them for my nephew.
