1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / $3.00 Thrift Store Lamp Re-Con on: June 01, 2010 09:19:10 AM

So I had some fun over the holiday weekend. I bought this $3.00 nasty plastic, brass and glass ball lamp at Thrift World .
It has good bones but boy was it ugly but now it's beautiful. Ta Da! One coat of primer and several Coats of high gloss
silver paint and a ribbed black shade to coordinate with the ribbed glass balls. I think I'll hit it with some Crystal clear to seal it.
The before pictures are below.

You can not see in the pictures but the gold finish was peeling off the plastic base and looked really gross. There where some gooey felt pads
on the bottom that where a after thought from someone and way to big. I love Trash to Treasure!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Gift Box Idea on: December 17, 2009 10:47:55 AM
I know you might have seen this but just a reminder.  Cassette Tape Box!
This would make a great gift box. The Tut link is on the Daily Danny

You could also use a marble for the top capper! Cute!

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Nightmare Before Christmas Ornament made from $$ Store Items on: December 07, 2009 03:22:48 PM
I saw this little handmade ornament and I think I'm going to make some for gifts. Those are just the 2 pack of sparkle snowflakes from the $$ TREE and a Ping Pong ball painted with
Jack Skellingtons face. Then a bow was added. Easy peasy and cute! What do you think? They have several color snowflakes. Red, Silver, Green and Blue! If I could find some black and white stripe ribbon that would be cute as well!

4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Box Rivets - Recycle Cardboard or Colorplast into cool projects on: October 13, 2009 12:04:34 PM
I'm not sure if anyone has seen this web site or not but I thought it was pretty cool tool to make neat stuff. My mind is going crazy with crafty ideas.
http://www.mrmcgroovys.com  He sells plastic box rivets to  connect recycled cardboard to create cool stuff. He even tells you how to go about getting
FREE cadboard boxes. He suggests refrigerator boxes or washer dryer boxes but any cardboard can be used. One man used them to connect recycled colorplast
signs into objects. One lady made a purse out of a old text book. Most people use them to make play forts, theater sets, costumes, parade floats and pirate ships.
He sells the plans with the kits or the rivets by themselves. The Rivets are removable and come with a remover so they can be recycled for the next project.
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Question about vinyl/ paper cutter or plotter Cricket?? on: March 16, 2009 11:17:39 AM
I have a question I love the adds for the Cricket but . . . I'm a graphic designer and would rather use my own designs instead of the the cartridges they make you but with their pre designed fonts and images. I think I remember someone saying they went to a craft expo and there is such a machine for crafters?? Does anyone know of one?  I know they make them for print shops but those are so high tech and very, very expensive. Thanks for reading! CG
6  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / I want to make this Martini Glass Chandelier on: November 06, 2008 05:10:55 PM
I really want to make this Martini Glass Chandelier! I love it
http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/2174851981_cdf3dcfc78.jpg

Any ideas?? I thought of buying a lighting kit from Home Depot and then a couple of
cases of Glasses and using heavy clear fishing line putting the lighting kit in the middle.
Then tie them all off together. I could then get some silver wire to wrap around the top and
make some type of loop to hang it by?

What do you all think of that Idea. Any suggestions?

Thanks
