First of all, I'm a new poster here, but not a new reader. My roommate and I have been perusing the boards like mad - so many Christmas present ideas! I hope we'll be able to contribute.

Anyway, I have a proposal. I would like to sew a case for my mp3 player, but the situation is a touch different because I don't have an iPod. I have a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra (yes, it's a mouthful, but it's a fantastic player), pictured here:

As you can see in this yucky compressed picture, it still has a display on the front, but the controls are on the sides, rather than also on the front.
I was thinking of doing a little box-type case (like the Jordy bags, but on a much smaller scale) with a flap on the back, closed with a snap or something similar. To reach the controls, I was thinking of just making slits in the sides (and one on the flap for the headphone jack), and hemming them - does that sound like a good idea? And my main issue lies in the fact that I want to be able to see the display when the player is inside the case. I would ideally like to have a hole in the front, covered by clear vinyl. How difficult would this be to work? I'm pretty much a novice to sewing, but I can follow a pattern and have a very helpful mom.

Does this sound like a good plan? And if you have any better ideas, please feel free to share. Thank you in advance!
