21  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Yarn Subs for Knitty's Clapotis on: February 03, 2005 07:57:24 PM
I'm using noro silk garden.  You mentioned it in your post, and yes, it is pricey, but not nearly as much as the Lorna's Laces.  I got 5 skeins (500 meters) for $40 on ebay and I think I just have to cut out one pattern repeat each on the length and the width.

could any of you that used cascade lana d'oro post about how that yarn worked out for you?  thanks!  (oh and if anyone used a yarn that ended up being bad for this project, please post that, too.)

hey.  the pattern is fairly simple to do and variations can be found in a lot of places (including the new stitch and bitch nation book).  this site's instructions are pretty much the same as what kadreath said, but i thought i'd post a link anyway in case it is helpful.  http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns/Deco-Stardust-Whisper-scarf.html

that's awesome.  brought a smile to my face.  i also did not watch firefly when it was on tv (in fact i hadn't even heard of it though im a huge buffy fan), but have watched the entire series since.  great job on the hat!

I'd love a pattern, too, please!  They look great.

I know I've seen a free pattern somewhere with similar armwarmers.  They were long like yours, and also had a single cable going the whole length.  I don't remember if it had ribbing.  It was white.  Anyone seen this online somewhere?
