1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Jewelery out of hardware!! on: February 15, 2005 11:46:36 PM
So anyways, last year I was in the hardware store with my dad, and as usual I was wandering around the aisles looking for any weird stuff I could find that could possibly have other uses...When I came to the washers.  For some strange reason I love washers!  Strange.  Anyways, I was reminded of some earrings that I had seen on the GirlShop website that I had really liked.  So as a true craftster, I decided to make them myslef.  And for about 150$ cheaper!

So here they are.  I call them my disco earrings...

I bought six washers and then asked my dad to drill the holes in them for me.  (I can just see it, if I tried drilling through metal myself.....let's just say it would be ugly and the drill would kick my butt!).  Then I just used jump rings to attach them together.

I absolutely love these things!  The only problem is that they are EXTREMELY heavy.  It took some practice wearing them before I could actually go out with them.  (Think of them like a new pair of heels you have to break in before you wear them...)  I can wear them out for an evening, but definitely not an everyday earring.

...Just thought I would share.  Hope you like!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / I need very tiny things for a care package!!! on: May 25, 2004 09:12:16 PM
My friend just started basic training for the air force last week and we want to send him a care package.  The only thing is that anything we send him, he has to be able to carry away in his pockets.  So we were thinking that we would just do one of those small bubblewrap envelopes, so we need ideas for tiny things to put in it.

Here are the ideas I have so far:
Mini photo album with pictures
Cross-stitch of a fighter jet (I actually have a pattern for this!)
Keychain

So that's all I've been able to think of.  The snag that I always hit is that he's a guy.  I can think of a lot of things that I could send but most of them are all cutesy.  Not exactly guy appropriate.  I think I even might be stretching it a little with the cross-stitch, but it is pretty cool, and I was going to write his name on the wing and everything.

Anyways if you guys had any ideas that you would be willing to share I would really appreciate it.  Thank you so much!
