Ok, so my beau has these really plain bamboo-like blinds we picked up from ikea for reaaal cheap. After having them up for awhile, we were thinking about dyeing them a different color, like a dark blue. I've dyed before but always clothes, never wood. I'd rather not paint them, I was hoping there would be a way to dye them in the tub or something. My other question to go along with this is because this is a new apt, we don't wanna ruin the tub and the blinds are too wide to use a bucket or anything else... is there a way to dye using like saran wrap around the tub or something in hopes of it not staining the tub? Thanx guys!

ps, the effect caused by dyeing them is a good side effect for us, so we aren't trying to make them a uniform blue, just interested in the dyeing effect on the blinds. 

Hey, so I have dark dark hair, however three years ago I had bleached blonde hair and then pink, red etc. I need to get photos done(headshots) and the bottom quarter of my hair is still light, my hair is also pretty long.
Is there a way to lighten the bottom of my hair so it matches the top without getting it too dark and without going to a salon?
I have been planing to go to a sytlist, but I'd rather not if i can save ther cash.
I have a few weeks before i need the photos to get done, so a weekly or daly process wouldn't bother me.
Please help!
Ps, i read the hair darkening thread, and im willing to try those tips, if they dont have to go on my whole head.

havent used it yet- first "stencil" ive ever made.

so, i was just in a little store in B-more today with some friends, and there were a lot of crafty things in it, a bunch that i have seen on here! but anyways, they had some motel keys that they had re-vamped by changing the motel names to like satans pit and all kindsa rocka-billy type names and i was enamored, but i really wanted to make one... i dont even know where you would get old motel keys or how they did it because it didnt look painted on, it looked embossed or engraved into the plastic....
if this makes any sense and you can help me out, lemme know!

so i had this shirt that had an iron on that came out all yucky so i was totally bored and i ripped a stencil offline and made it a multi layer kinda. i painted a blue background to cover the sucky iron on and viola. it is also a kinda inside joke* i just came back from the beach and one of the jokes included living in a whale belly and also that decemberists song about whale belly and so i put the lyrics around it.

sooo folks, here goes. im addicted.
i got a new bag with the intent to stencil it but nothing in mind, so i made it with the heart stencil and added text in french, or suitable french cuz i dont care that much to get out my old books and get it completely right but it says, my heart is more delicate than a wilting flower.


and also i made a shirt for my roomate:

so i went to ohmystars today and i looked thru the stencils and found an awesum tape one. so i made one!! and i added the text. this is prolly my best stencil yet. im super proud!!

so i stenciled again tonight! ho ho!! this time it was a little more true to stenciling. that stuff is maad hard  to get it to go thru shirt fabric! i was painting for-eva! well not all that long but still it was a lot harder than using fabric paint. so i made a chococat stencil from someones post about using sanrio coloring pages. it worked ok, his face is a little fat... here goes.

so i attempted stenciling, but due to it being late last night and me not having an exacto or cutting the paper right, it kinda turned out funkay.
so heres the stencil i used.


and heres my shirt. i still stenciled it kinda. i cut out the image and traced it and filled it in. this pic makes the guys head look funny but he looks aiiight i think. i put it at the bottom of a really plain black shirt. im pretty proud at my first "stenciled" project.
