1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Robin Hood is my buddy - pleated shirt on: September 15, 2007 02:56:08 PM
I found this big shirt of my dad's in a bag in my basement. So I brought it upstairs. And as the love stories go, in an hour I had a new shirt.

It's funny how the color looks different in all three pictures

it is so comfy.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / my silk skirt hates the wind on: June 29, 2007 02:20:22 PM
I made a skirt recently out of a big silk scarf from Value Village a while ago. The problem is, when it's windy, or even when i walk around for an hour, the skirt starts riding up my crotch  Tongue and it sticks to my legs.

I've thought of making a petticoat, but the skirt isn't very long (above knee length) and i'm thinking a petticoat made of tulle would make it stick out too far. I don't know what else to use.

Can anyone help? Any suggestions for petticoat materials/how to sew a non-poofy petticoat/make the skirt not stick?

anything would be very much appreciated...thanks!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / what's minty green, lacy and spotty? on: August 07, 2005 03:10:52 PM
so...last week i finally went to the fabric store, bought some fabric for 3$, some lace, and made a skirt. i love it so much and is now one of my favourite skirts. i'm going to wear it everywhere and be known as the Girl in The Minty Spotty Skirt (thanks becky bloomwood for that one!). take a look at it!

yay, i'm happy! it took approximately 3 hours to make and the pleats are the result of not following the circle skirt instructions and cutting the hole too big. the eyelet is from the hem of another skirt i had but was really ugly.
it's really short but i have lacy white boxers that i wear under it and all is fine Smiley

any comments?

6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / broken beads on: June 19, 2005 02:43:59 PM
i have 2 ziplocs of broken glass beads my friend gave me to do mosaic things with. i didn't know how much i hated fitting in all the little pieces (they don't fit anyway!) until i tried covering a box, and now, i have about 300 pretty little bits of glass siting in my crap box.
what shall i do with them?

8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / empty plastic eyeshadow compacts? on: February 27, 2005 10:36:08 AM
i don't know if compacts is exactly the right word, but anyhow. they're like these shallow, clear, plastic jars that open like a door. (they used to hold eyeshadow, but i scraped it all out)ideas?
9  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / book covers on: February 27, 2005 10:25:37 AM
i have some leftover book covers, the stretchy kind, and i dont know what to do with them. i've heard the 'make a purse, pillow etc' thing a lot but i don't want to make either one... I was thinking maybe a shirt or something. the fabric is a really long rectangle when i ripped out the seams. help!
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / bubble shirt on: February 06, 2005 02:02:28 PM
i have a red bubble shirt(is that what they're called) and anyway i have no idea what to do with it. if you pull on it, the fabric stretches and the bubbles go flat. (It's a t-shirt.)
