3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / handmade coasters on: December 12, 2008 02:22:07 AM
hello there Smiley
i just made a set of coasters for a friend who's an avid fan of betty boo. i'm going to give these to her for christmas. i made these coasters with plain white kitchen tiles. i use zebra print as the background. the zebra print i painted on a piece of canvas using acrylic paint.

for those of you who are interested with the creative process of these coasters, you can have a look at it here : http://pimpandpaint.blogspot.com/2008/12/more-coasters.html

have a creative weekend Smiley
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / DIY magnetic board on: December 11, 2008 02:49:34 AM
hello there Smiley
i just want to share a couple of DIY magnetic boards i made as christmas gifts. i found wooden cutouts in the shape of an artist palette which i thought were quite cute. initially i tried to spray it with magnetic spray but it's wasn't very strong so i did it another way.

i used zinc sheets bought from the hardware store and cut them to fit the palettes then i glued them on. i have been dabbling with mixed media lately... still pretty new at it ... like 3 weeks but it fascinates me. i don't think i have developed an 'eye' for mixed media yet... but this is what i came up with using the magnetic boards as my canvas.

the zinc sheet :

this one i call "passion"

here's how i made the magnets - glueing raw magnet under some mosaic

this next one i called "wallflower"

i used paper, paint (flowers were painted using one stroke technique), ink, party serviettes, rubber stamp, texture paste. i have uploaded more pics in my blog http://pimpandpaint.blogspot.com/2008/12/creative-process-of-magnetic-board.html... if anyone is interested to look at them or read about the process. Smiley

have a creative week Smiley

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / DIY accessory holder on: December 10, 2008 09:28:16 AM
hello there Smiley
i'm new and first time posting one of my projects here... i just hope i'm doing things right Smiley

here's an accessory holder i DIYed from scratch. the base is actually a chopping board from ikea... i've done some decorative painting, so i designed some motifs and painted the base with waterbase acrylic.
other materials i used were chicken wire, fabric and polyester underlay, some poles i found, a couple or screws, glue of course and staple gun! and this is what i came up with Smiley

i hope this file is not too big... there are many photos but i tried to put the essential ones all in one template. so that it's easily understandable just by looking at the pictures Smiley if anyone is interested in the full (it's really long) instructions of how to do this, you can take a look at it in my blog. here's the link to the post Smiley

thanks for viewing and have a creative week Smiley
