4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Anyone have a New Home Sewing Machine or Who could help me? on: October 27, 2008 05:49:13 AM
ok i have just posted about my Singer & Vintage Machines & it got me thinking to ask about this one, i have a new home sewing machine( i will have to look & get the model but its from the 90s i do know that) that my x bought me from his 2nd cousin that has been sitting around  & i know it needs to be oiled (majorly..LOL). my question is should i take it into a service man to have it maintence etc to make sure it runs properly? im sry for asking such a silly question but its been awhile as i said in my post since i've done sewing hard core cuz of some personal problems...i want to get to the point where i can sew w/out hardly any problems..lol..than ks!
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Anyone have a Singer Simple Machine?/Vintage Machines too? on: October 27, 2008 05:15:06 AM

My hubby bought me this machine last year & so far after relearning how to sew on a machine after a year or 2 of being away from it, i am now hooked on sewing & quilting!again! ( i was in a depressed stage in my life)...i was sewing my quilt top (square shape) & after going long ways on it, which is did fine,  i had to go sew up the other parts that i missed & my fabric sometimes keeps bunching up & my needles are breaking..so i stopped & now i am hand stitching it which i dont mind actually its  relaxing but slow LOL..i miss sewing on it..one of my friends suggested that i buy a or ask for a quilting foot for a bday present (which is 3 weeks away) & that should clear up the problem..any suggestions? i am soo missing sewing on this thing..
i was reading the great thread on everyone's sewing machines & after seeing the vintage ones i have decided that is my newest collection..luckily hubbys w/me on it (was going to even if he wasn't..LOL) so i am going over to my local thrift stores to see if i can find one..i am doing this incase i find a heavy duty one that will allow me to quilt as well as to sew, what should i look for when out shopping for these kind of machines?
