1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: 50% free-hand, 100% pencil on: August 05, 2010 05:36:35 PM
Thanks, if I remember right it was one of my favorite drawings I did in high school.
2  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Shark Week Cake! on: August 05, 2010 05:32:33 PM
Thank you Smiley The family loved it, my mom wasn't a fan of the fondant though so she just peeled it off. Oh well, it's more for looks anyway.
3  COOKING / Dessert / Shark Week Cake! on: August 05, 2010 11:52:43 AM
I have been in a crafty mood lately and I love baking! Not so much the eating, but the creating part is always fun. I chose my theme in spirit of Shark Week on Discovery Channel. This is also my first time using fondant and I kind of marbleized the color with some blue food coloring. The letters were kinda last minute and since it's just for my family I didn't feel like taking extra time to make them all neat and perfect. The cake itself is red velvet (what else, when Shark Week is around?!) with pink buttercream frosting. I wanted to take a picture of the cake once it's cut but nobody is home from work to see it yet!

You can kinda see the fin of the other shark popping up on the other side!

Edit: Here's the inside after my brother devoured the cake haha Smiley It was delicious.

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / 50% free-hand, 100% pencil on: August 04, 2010 10:20:28 PM
This is from 3 years ago (same time as my watercolors, if you saw my other post) as well. We were supposed to find a profile of a person in a magazine, cut it in half, and free-hand the other side of their face. Looking back on this now I see a lot of imperfections with it, but simply for the fact that it is not 100% drawn by me I feel like going back and making corrections will be a waste of my time.

Again I know the photo quality is pretty terrible. I couldn't find the good camera Sad
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Abstract Building Collage...hooray for charcoal! on: August 04, 2010 10:00:03 PM
This was for a drawing class last semester. Our assignment was to find pictures of buildings, cut them apart, and arrange them collage-wise to our liking. Then we had to draw our little collage with charcoal onto a giganto piece of art paper. This is my finished product, done entirely in charcoal other than one or two areas that I felt deserved a sharpie just to make them 100% black rather than risking the grainy appearance. I think it adds a pretty decent variety of texture. Also the entire thing was drawn from my little glued together collage of buildings, except for the skyscraper-esque thing in the right corner, the black arrowish things on the left, and the spiral (which is part of a museum) was extended to look like it was fading out.

Apologies for the image quality. I did the best I could with what was available.
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Simple Watercolors from back in the olden days on: August 04, 2010 09:50:46 PM
Just a few pretty simple and basic watercolors I did about three years ago back in high school. I guess I never got around to showing anybody except my momma haha Smiley

I realize this first one looks like the Rainbow Fish. Not intentional, but I suppose it might have been in the back of my mind when I was creating it. The assignment was basically to paint an image that included a gradation of the rainbow. I also realize the seaweed on the left has no outline. Oops!

Simple watercolor using shapes and painting each shape a different color than it's surrounding shapes.

You can tell this is old, just because it's a "Christmas card" design, but it's actually over 3 Christmases old.

Thanks for looking!
