11  Re: FIBER FRIDAY! 1/5/07 in Spinning: Completed Projects by woodlandsprite on: January 05, 2007 02:53:59 PM
what a beautiful start to the new Year!

I've got 2 to show:
Mint Mocha: A gift, that will be given away this afternoon Smiley
5.8 oz of handblended mixed wools

and I'm so excited, I finally spun another one of these skeins - it's my "signature" yarn (as in I use it in my shop logo and stationary etc)
It's called Desert Globe Mallow - it only gets made every now and again because it's so time consuming - but every time I make it, I fall in love again.
Spun from one of my own handblended batts -
merino & alpaca wools + firestar & angelina and the "flowers" are a bamboo blend yarn

all the yarns are so beautiful!

i've been having some time to spin Smiley unfortunately, yarn seems to be taking ages to dry these days.

anyhow, here they are:

globe mallow - slightly thick & thin from handdyed handblended batts - with sparkle throughout

misty meadow - slightly thick and thin handdyed blue faced leicester

raspberry truffle - slightly thick & thin handdyed merino wool

domino - handblended mixed wool - huge skien - almost 8 ounces!

Here are two skeins I've done recently for gifts....

this one is called frosted sycamore. it is handblended merino, angora and alpaca fibers, 2plies of the handspun + a ply of iridescent.

and this one is called Sherbet.  It's handdyed and handspun merino Smiley

Here's a closeup because I love it so much:

16  Swallowtail Shawl! in Knitting: Completed Projects by woodlandsprite on: November 30, 2006 12:40:05 PM

To celebrate being free of holiday and craft fair preparations, I knit up the Swallowtail Shawl. She was done in just over a weeks time Smiley and most of the knitting was probably concentrated in to one day and a couple of evenings.

I have been trying to figure out different ways to wear triangular shawls, and I have some suggestions listed on my site - I went on that quest because I love knitting lace, but never wear it - mostly because I have no idea how to LOL

More info on the Swallowtail can be found via my Blog - if you're not interested in reading about how to wear lace, just scroll to the bottom and follow the link to my finished objects blog.

I decided to squeeze in some fun knitting in between the holiday knitting and craft fair preparation knitting and churned out this beauty in a short evening, including all of the embellishment making and attaching Smiley

More info, as always, is available via my blog

20  Handknit Handspun Eyelet Scarf! in Spinning: Completed Projects by woodlandsprite on: October 29, 2006 11:09:43 AM
Remember this yarn?

Well, I finally finsihed knitting it up into a really long lace scarf Smiley I'm trying to decide if I'm going to blog about it because I don't know if the gift recipient reads my blog!

Anyway, here's a closeup:

Smiley
I think it was one batt of Verbena handblended Merino-Firestar from my shop.  I couldn't get the sparkles to show in the photo very well, but they are very subtle  I think I'm going to have to spin more for myself to do a shawl!
