aaahhh, hey guys! it's been a while...

to start off: I've been making plush dolls forEVER, but not quite as complex as this (even though this one isn't even that complex either).

my friend asked me to knit her a bear, so I drew up this diagram to give myself an idea:



would anybody be willing to give me a hand on this project? I'll some help when it comes to structuring...

I'm guessing I need to start off with a gingerbread cookie shape for the front/belly side of the bear, then knit a slightly bigger one for the back to make him more slouchy? and I have no idea what I'm going to do with the head...

maybe, while I'm knitting the back, I can extend the head to include the nose, then wrap it over to the front and...knit three triangles for the rest of the muzzle?

It may not look like it, but he took quite a while to make, seeing as he's so small and fragile. Should I add anything on? (like eyes and a mouth, just maybe? haha)

I would love to crochet myself a mohawk hat, but I'm not entirely sure how the mohawk bit is done. I've never really dabbled in the art of...er, fringing? Is it tied from the back, or...? I'm not sure.

It's basically just an earflap hat with little fringe-type things along the top, but...how would I go about doing that?

Man, I feel a bit odd. About a week ago, my friend asked me to make her a fennec fox, and I said okay. So I set out to buy the yarn and make it. I was really, truly excited to do it--I think fennec foxes are absolutely ADORABLE. And I sketched out the design I was going to make and everything. I was ready to go for it.
Then yesterday, I was looking through the Completed Projects section of the crochet forums, and the first thing I see is, "I made a fennec fox!" I clicked on it, and it...was...SO good. If you haven't seen it yet, GO NOW. It's amazingly cute.
But since it's so well-made, I feel kinda bad making MY own fennec fox, because I'll feel like I'm stealing her idea or something..? It's not like people crochet fennec foxes every day, and it's just... an awful coincidence. AND I had bought a very, very similar yarn for mine. :/

I dunno guys, should I go for it? I'd really hate to be ragged on for copying an idea, although the design I sketched out looks nothing like the fox she made. But still! I'm not sure.

His name is Keith McLaggen, the Scoctopus (hah, portmanteau of octopus and Scot). He's a classy little guy who enjoys drinking his tea while reading the newspaper every morning.
