Just finished my first hat of the year... The Divine Hat
I am donating it to my sister's kindergarten class, in case someone forgets their hat.  (It's cold in Canada!)

4  Chuncky chain-link necklace in Beads: Completed Projects by obitay on: January 11, 2010 06:24:04 AM
I only recently started playing with beads.  I was inspired mainly by what I saw on craftster to start taking it up.
It wasn't until one of my sisters wanted requested something 'fashionable' for Christmas that I thought I was really stuck.  I had planned to hand-make all of my sisters gifts (being unemployed).  But usually they turn out to be some kind of kitchy novelty craft.  This is when I decided to take the plunge and create a piece of jewelry.
It is my first complete project with beads, so be nice Tongue

I created little tubes (? I don't know what else to call them Tongue ) and joined them to create each link.  I then used a piece of ribbon and chunky wooden bead to finish off the necklace.

(the large wooden bead was originally brown, but i painted it with black nail polish)

I also put it on my blog, but it is mainly the same thing I posted here.

C&C are very welcome!  I was thinking about making a matching bracelet as well Smiley

5  Very Hungary Caterpillar! in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by obitay on: January 04, 2010 10:24:04 AM
Ok, So I made this charm for a necklace back in early fall.  but I couldn't risk posting it in case my sister saw, as it was a Christmas gift for her.  She is a kindergarten teacher, so I knew her kids would get a kick out of it, and she also adores Children's books, including and especially The Very Hungary Caterpillar

It was made out of polymers clay, and I just mixed different greens and created marble balls and squished them to create the effect.  I also worte about it on my blog.  But it is essentially the same Tongue Enjoy!

I also just looked up in the search to see if anyone else had made anything similar, and it seems that crafster Zachar made a cute little charm bracelet with the Very Hungry Caterpillar and the foods that he chomps through!  If you were interested in my necklace, definitely check hers out!  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=320925.0

6  Browned Butter Chocolate Chip cookies and How to brown butter in Dessert by obitay on: November 02, 2009 07:13:45 PM
I have made these cookies a few times now, and they have replaced my 'normal' chocolate chip cookie recipe.  The browned butter adds a depth to the flavour.

The first time I made them I burnt the butter, but no worries!  It just tasted a bit like creme brulee!!! My other favourite desset!!  I highly recommend them!

How to brown butter:
Put your butter in a frying pan (one without a non-stick coat works best so you can see the colour change)
Turn the heat to medium, and continuously swirl the butter in the pan over the burner.
You will see bit of it starting to turn, but how you really tell is the butter takes on a nutty aroma!  It smells delish!!!  As soon as you can smell that lovely smell and turn colour, take it off the heat.

Note:  If it is really hot, i found that if you take it off the heat and stop swirling, it will spit hot butter!  So I take it off the heat, and keep swirling it on a cool burner until it cools just a bit

I'd imagine you could add browned butter to any of your baking adventures, you would just need to add a bit more dry ingredients to even it out.

Obviously best with milk!
You can find the link to the recipe here.

Enjoy!

7  Some Pretty Pendants in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by obitay on: October 30, 2009 06:28:30 PM
Here are some pendants I made of Polymers Clay.

I was trying to make delicate pretty flowers.

I liked the idea I was headed at, but I think I can do better.  Practice makes perfect!  So hopefully, I'll be churning out some more of these! They were really fun to make.

You can get more info about this and my other crafts at my blog

C&C appreciated!
Which one is your favourite?

8  Some Cupcakes and my favourite Tim Horton's Doughnut! in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by obitay on: October 26, 2009 07:07:05 PM
I made some cupcakes.  Although, like some of my edible cupcakes.... they burnt a little.

So I had to change the names of them....yes, I name each little cupcake.

Here is a pic of the group.

Also, This is my creation of my favourite Tim Horton's Doughnut. I forget what its called though. (If anyone remembers what the sprinkled doughnut is called, let me know) I desperately miss them, being a Canadian living in the UK.  Sad  So I made myself a charm to help me through it.  lol

If you would like to know more about these little goodies,  feel free to check out my blog
, where I like to share my crafty and bakey adventures.

9  Things that Belong Together Frame in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by obitay on: October 12, 2009 04:45:16 AM
I decorated this picture frame for my boyfriend for Valentines Day.  I'm a bit late posting it Tongue   It's a bit dusty, but it is sitting right beside his computer, so the fact that it is in a prominate position is a good thing!  I made things that go together out of polymers clay, and then a picture of the two of us.

If you can't tell what they are,  from the top left, clockwise,  Cookies and Milk,  Needle and Thread,  Wine and Cheese,  Nuts and Bolts, Salt and Pepper,  Strawberries and Cocolate,  Pencil and Eraser, and Bread and Butter, and of course in the middle is him and me!  (Not the best of pictures, but oh well).

I made the little figures out of polymers clay and then adhered it with a glue gun.
Enjoy!  And Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

10  Yummy Buttons! in CHALLENGE 37 ENTRIES by obitay on: April 05, 2009 03:49:10 PM
For this challenge I put together two great things:  cake and buttons!!

I absolutely LOVE decorating cakes, so why not decorate one with a button theme.  Thank goodness I had a baked cake in the freezer just waiting to be adorned with sugar!  So I made up some marshmallow fondant and made a blue and purple cake with a button motif.

Oh yeah, and the buttons are also made by me out of marshmallow fondant!
