1  from a window to a picture frame in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by poppi on: December 20, 2009 11:50:18 PM

As my name might indicate, I like poppies.  So awhile back I had this idea to take an old window and use it as a frame for some pics of poppies I took while walking my dog this summer.  I was going to paint the wood trim, but it had yellow and pink paint layers under the white that ended up looking great with some strategic sanding.  I never thought I'd be creating a faux antique look, but I am very happy with it.  The green squares might get orange poppies, since they're my favorite, if I can get some good pics next summer.  I'm not sure yet if that will create a flower overload or not.

And up close with better color:

Hey all, I received my package from mouser882 yesterday but didn't have time to post before work.  She made me many super cute items.  My themes were: bicycles, crows/ravens, poppies, steampunk, and octopii.

So let the pics begin!

In this photo there are the tentacle arm warmers, a steampunk wrist band with an applique skeleton key with little gear things, an adorable tote bag with poppies and poppy barettes, and a cute coin purse with a bike on it and some cute little birdy extras.  I think the coin purse will evolve to hold my tire patch kit because its the perfect size.

And an action shot of the poppy barettes, including me making a goofy face.
And finally, this may be my favorite, the stuffed crow

first hanging out with my puppy and then prepared for flight

3  2 new necklaces in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by poppi on: September 01, 2009 12:49:00 AM
The first pendant is my first ever experiment with resin, so please be kind Smiley

I'm a bit of a dork so since we were using spoons as a base I decided to make a spoonful of sugar.  I used the chemical symbol for sucrose and a bit of glitter at the end of the spoon.

The second is a choker made from leather, lace and a brass flower button.  I think it still needs something, but I like it.

4  Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by poppi on: February 13, 2009 04:31:53 PM

I just got this last saturday, I'm pretty happy.  It was my design idea but the artist drew it out, my drawing was really abstract.  The biggest bird in the middle is more stylized than I'd like and I might add another bigger leaf at the end that is disintegrating more.  That was my original plan but when I saw his drawing I wasn't sure if it would work or not.  Oh and the sun/moon/star I got about ten years ago on my 18th birthday, he just cleaned it up a bit.

5  tattoo themed house items in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by poppi on: February 01, 2009 09:34:11 PM
My little brother finally got his own place.  So I figured I should send him some basic house hold items.  I wanted them to be kind of original, so this is what I came up with.  I'm not quite happy with them but they might get sent anyway.

Two pot holders and two kitchen towels

A super soft fuzzy fleece blanket with patches at the corners

Any ideas on improvements?

6  dog bed in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by poppi on: February 01, 2009 09:26:55 PM

A very late christmas present for my friend and her pug.  Its a little flashy and kind of looks like a flattened beach ball but I still like it.  I think its fitting for a pug named Lola.  I believe its from a simplicity pattern.

I made a bigger one for my husky, but the black fleece and red and black houndstooth don't look as pretty when they have a layer of white fur.

7  better sweater in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by poppi on: February 01, 2009 09:18:51 PM

This isn't quite a recon, maybe more improvement and a fix.  I got this sweet hooded cashmere sweater from a thrift store but it had a couple little holes in the front.  But it was so comfy and awesome I figured I could just patch over it some how.   I decided a little pocket would be cute and useful, but then when I got that on I didn't feel like it blended in so I added some lace trim around the hood.

It may get further improvements ( I think some teal velvet inside the hood might be the most awesome thing ever) but for now I am quite stoked.  Let me know what ya think.

8  bikey christmas ornaments in Winter Holidays by poppi on: December 02, 2008 09:59:16 PM
I like bikes, recycling and the shape of gears a lot. So at some point when thinking about what I might make for my friends for christmas I came up with this.   A cog turned into an ornament.  I'm still experimenting they will probably get bows, maybe bells on some etc.  I'm not able to post pics yet so here is the link:

Hope you enjoy!
