my dog... truly suffers for my art. she looooooves to spend time with me while crafting, and when I'm least suspecting it, she'll back that furry butt right up to my leg, and continue to back into my leg until I pet her, which is always accompanied by loud barking.

I'm always incredibly startled when she does this and it usually results in me knocking something over onto her (most recently, some home made glitter glue paint. she's rather sparkly. The vet didn't appreciate it in the slightest.)

The picture does this stuff NO justice. it's SO bright and the tips are black.. it's a REALLY cool effect.

No,  flossing doesn't replace boning tips of any sort, it's meant to be used in addition to..



The corsets and crinolines definition (to help clarify a little):
Flossing: Embroidery found on the bone casings of a corset. Flossing reinforced bone casings preventing bones from fraying and working their way out, and provided decoration for a corset.

I'm really quite pleased with it. it's growing back such a pretty color..

I just wanted to show off my results a bit.

I ended up using SOOO much glitter on them.. like 6 coats to get them covered as well as I did.

I used Aileenes (sp!) fabric glue (it dries completely clear and is flexible) and I'd just paint on a layer, sprinkle the glitter on it, then press it in, let it dry for a day, then repeat, then after the last layer of glitter, I just put on one last layer of glue and let it dry.

Honestly they didn't shed as much as I expected.. and after a good shake outside I had no problems with a glitter trail.

I have to tell you, out in the sunlight, these things are amazing.

[eta- just for the record, these were an olllld pair of chucks, and I got some "real" shoe laces.. cleaned up the glue spots on the toes, and scraped the glitter off the lace holes. they look a bit neater now ]
