1  Spock and Kirk Amigurumi (image heavy) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Willowe on: September 27, 2013 04:15:16 PM
I got really into Star Trek this summer. As in, watched a season of TOS in just over 2 days before realizing that hey, I should probably take a break from Netflix. At which point I dug into my stash and whipped up a Spock, complete with ears and eyebrows.

And then, because clearly one Spock isn't enough, I made a second based on the uniforms from the recent reboot movies.

And obviously, Spock needs a Kirk...

I had no idea what color Shatner's eyes were so, on the advice of family members, I went with blue/green. I think they're actually a bit more brown but oh well. Other note, I don't think these are exactly the right stripes on the sleeves (at least in TOS I think the second stripe is actually dashes and not solid??) but oh well it's close enough for me Cheesy

Technical details: Pattern is my own design, but it's sort of a "basic" amigurumi pattern. Ball for head, tubes for arms, oval body, etc. The feet are ovals with decreases to sort of curl the ends up into a shoe design, that I swear I crocheted differently every time I made a new plushie Tongue Spock's ears are [sc, hdc, dc] into a magic circle, two of those sewn together and then sewn to his head. His sideburns and eyebrows are ridiculous to get even but they're sewn on too. Everything crocheted with acrylic, RHSS for most of it and Vanna's Choice for the TOS shirts, because I am cheap. No idea what the metallic yarn is off the top of my head, sorry. Finished dolls are about 9" sitting.

And I think that's everything! Thanks for looking! Smiley

2  Scrubbies, mug cozies, and more! (AKA a productive spring break) IMAGE HEAVY in Crochet: Completed Projects by Willowe on: March 25, 2013 08:01:21 AM
My goal for my spring break, which was last week, was to use up the last of my cotton yarn and finish a scarf. That plan got slightly derailed when I got home and my mom gave me FIVE more skeins of yarn, but I still managed to use up most of it Cheesy

First up, the scarf. Made of some wool blend that I bought (and started working with) ages ago. It worked up really nicely and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Next, mug cozies. I just made the pattern up as I went along. They fit "standard size" mugs (so about 3.25" wide). I ended up making four of them, though I have a maroon one in progress right now.

Next, dish scrubbies. I used this pattern for them and then just tweaked it until I was happy with the size. A quick google search will give you a couple different variations on that pattern to work from. Anyway, I ended up making three of them.

Next (almost done, I promise!) a set of holiday coasters, in an attempt to use up as much of this Christmas-y yarn as possible (I still have some left so I might make a mug cozy out of it or something). I ended up making 5 coasters total.

And finally my favorite projects, coin purses! It was my first attempt at sewing a zipper onto anything I've crocheted and I think they turned out pretty good! I also have another one of these started that isn't quite finished yet.

So all in all, in just a little over a week I crocheted...

-About half of that scarf to finish it
-Four mug cozies, with another started
-Three scrubbies
-A set of five holiday coasters
-Four coin purses, with another started

I'd say that's definitely not too shabby! Cheesy

3  Supernatural Characters- Sam, Dean, Gabriel, Castiel, and Jo in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Willowe on: September 14, 2012 08:18:49 PM
So at the beginning of the summer I started making plushies of Supernatural characters, because I love the show so much.

First up, the angels: Castiel and Gabriel.

Their jackets are both removable (in Castiel's case, his trench coat is removable but the black jacket underneath is not). The wings are also both attached to the jackets by buttons, so they can be removed as well.

Next, Sam and Dean.

Again, jackets are removable. Unlike the angels, these have been made with a wide variety of shirt and jacket colors but I prefer the ones shown above Smiley

And finally, Jo Harvelle.

Jo has a removable jacket as well, which isn't in the picture, and unlike the guys she has some shaping around the waist and bust to give her a more "feminine" shape.

4  Re: 2012 Winter Holiday Crafting Lists! in Winter Holidays by Willowe on: September 11, 2012 09:40:45 AM
Well I finished the Iron Man gloves! They actually worked up a lot faster than I thought they would, so I might have to make myself a pair. Wink In case anyone's interested, the crochet pattern for them can be found HERE (though fair warning, the pattern is more of a guideline and you'll probably have to tweak some things).

Also, a WIP photo of the TARDIS afghan I'm working on. Its a little over 4 wide, probably going to be around 6.5 long when its done. The smallest squares are all about 1 wide, which is part of the reason its been taking me so long.

I received from phoenixfiredesigns! She sent me an absolutely gorgeous Tree of Life pendant! I'm sorry for the horrible quality pictures, I'm in the process of moving out of my dorm and my camera's already packed up so I had to use my phone. Once I get home this weekend I'll post better ones!

Thank you so much PFD! I absolutely love it!

I received an awesome package of supplies from klg_jlg!

I don't know how well you can see everything, but she sent me embroidery floss in basically every color imaginable (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, neutral, all with different shades of color as well), a baggie of various loose threads including some metallic ones, needles, and two large pieces of Aida cloth with some pretty awesome stitchwork started. Smiley

Thank you so much, klg_jlg!! It's definitely going to be a loooong time before I need to buy more cross-stich supplies, haha!

I'm really happy the sugar scrubs got there alright, puzzler! I went and bought new sturdier jars after one of the original ones broke but I was still really nervous about sending it out!

And I received a lovely package from angelxwing! Here's everything together:

She sent me an adorable little fake mustache to cheer me up and, since I can't have real candles in my dorm, she also sent a little electric tea light in a cute house-shaped holder. She also sent two blocks of soap. Here they are unwrapped:

They don't have a strong scent, which is actually perfect because my skin can be stupidly sensitive sometimes.

Thank you so much, angelxwing! I love everything. Smiley

I received from klg_jlg at the beginning of the week, and stupid me let my friend borrow my camera ("Just for a day!" Yeah right. Roll Eyes ). Still don't have it back, so my apologies for the poor camera photos but I didn't want to wait any longer for my friend to get the camera back to me.

Anyway, she sent me some awesome cloth pads and a very nice wet bag for travel/on-the-go/etc.

Thank you so much, klg_jlg! They look like they're going to be great. Smiley

Sorry it took me so long to get these pictures up. I don't even really have a good excuse, I just kept forgetting to do it. Tongue Anyway, here are the amazing things that LilLouLouBell sent me!

First is this beautiful protection necklace made of "salt", which came in this adorable little box:

And another awesome box, completely decoupaged with Ghostfacers stuff! I literally squealed when I saw it because I LOVE the Ghostfacers and it is just absolutely perfect! I don't think I got pictures of everything, but here's most of the box at least:

Seriously, every inch of this box is covered with Ghostfacers pictures and quotes! Every time I thought I had seen everything, I found something new on it!

And finally, my favorite item that she sent, this AMAZING stocking! On one side is Castiel with the words "Hey, Assbutt!" in Enochian. On the other side is this adorable moose (that I have named Samuel Jared) with "Willowe" in Enochian:

Again, sorry for taking so long to post pictures, but THANK YOU, LilLouLouBell! You were such a great partner and I seriously love everything!

Well Spec is finally home, after being held hostage by my university's mail room, and he had a TON of wonderful souvenirs with him!

And here's most of them! There's some very cool maps and a local newspaper, a lovely candle that they picked up on their trip to the rose gardens (which is currently squirreled away in my stuff, as we can't have candles in our dorms, but as soon as I get home I'm putting it to use!), a box of Stash tea, which is apparently made in Oregon (which I've already broken into and it's absolutely delicious), a deck of playing cards, a little notebook from the zoo and a pen.

AND my two favorite things: postcards and the pencil! I don't know if theatreorchid was reading my mind or what, but I collect postcards and was so hoping to get a few. And the pencil is awesome, it has little gemstones at the end and I have this weird fascination for stones and rocks so this was a very pleasant surprise!

She also sent me Doctor Who magnets. Sadly I forgot to take a picture of them, but they're currently decorating my fridge. And they were yet another reason I'm convinced that theatreorchid is just amazing at knowing my interests because I absolutely LOVE Doctor Who and I was so excited when I saw them!

Another souvenir that made me think that theatreorchid is the best stalker in the world- a little tote bag from Powell's Books, which I'm already using to carry the books I'm reading around.

A little souvenir penny book and the outside of the scrapbook.

Seriously you guys, you have no idea how amazing this scrapbook is! To give you an idea, here are some of my favorite pages:

Trip to the zoo

Voodoo doughnut! Now I want to go there and see this place for myself!

It was these pages that convinced me that theatreorchid just completely rocks because she got pictures of Spec with the Tolkien books at Powell's Books! Tolkien is my absolute favorite author of all time and I was squealing and flailing when I saw these pictures.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for such an awesome package, theatreorchid! I love everything and I'm glad Spec had such an amazing time!
