1  Photo Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by cransell on: April 04, 2007 12:48:01 PM
This is a photo quilt that I made for my mother for Christmas two years ago.

It's approximately 3' x 5' and is the only quilt I've ever made that I intended to be a wall hanging.  I have a strict you must actually use the quilt policy Smiley

The pictures are all of my mother as a child and young woman.  Here are a few close ups:

(That's my dad next to here - they started dating in high school!)

All the fabric was yellow scraps that I had around the house and the shiny white is baby blanket binding.

I'm happy to say that my mom loved it and it now hangs above my parent's bed.

2  Black and White and Red All Over Baby Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by cransell on: March 02, 2007 09:17:09 PM
I just finished this small (2 1/2' x 3 1/3') quilt for a friend who is due at the end of the month.  Since babies can only see black and white and red to start, I thought that would be interesting take on a baby quilt, instead of the traditional pastels.

The pattern is a variation of the Flying Geese pattern.  The quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted.

Here's a close up, showing the fabric on the back - which is flannel, to make the quilt extra snuggly.  The quilting is modified stitch-in-the-ditch, which is what pretty much all my quilts are.

The quilt took me about two months to make, working on it sporadically.

3  Rainbow Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by cransell on: January 02, 2007 03:46:30 PM
I made this quilt 5-6 years ago, but I just got around to taking pictures.  It's one of the only quilts I've ever made that I've kept!  It's full sized and that last quilt that I both pieced and quilted by hand (once I started giving the quilts away, I thought they needed to be more durable!)

And one with my cat...

4  jewel toned double wedding ring quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by cransell on: June 14, 2006 12:25:41 PM
I made this quilt as a wedding present for my friend and her fiance.  I was never a big fan of double wedding ring quilts, but once I switched the colors up, I love it and would definitely do one again.  Sewing curves was scary at first, but I think the quilt turned out great.

Close up on the scalloped edge:

The quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted and took me about 9 months (on and off) to make.

5  Abstract Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by cransell on: December 30, 2004 11:35:55 AM
I made this quilt for my sister for Christmas.  It's the third full-sized quilt I've made and the first one from a pattern.

It's machine-piece and hand quilted and it took me about a year.

Close up of a few of the squares...
