1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Steampunk Parasol on: August 09, 2012 04:46:36 PM
Hello, all!  I'm getting ready for Dragon*Con, and decided I needed a parasol to go with my Steampunk costume.  I was inspired by the Alexia Tarabotti novels.

I took a paper parasol, spray painted it brown and stenciled some designs in gold.  Then I added an old candlestick as a handle, made a keypad on the upper handle, added some old lamp parts, and added some "aether crystals" to power it!

Their website says wool, but they accept in any fiber.  Mine are all in acrylic.
Thanks for all the support!
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Worthy charity on: January 16, 2011 07:15:26 PM
I just wanted to share with my fellow crocheters a charity that I make hats for.  Warmth for Warriors, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, was formed to show appreciation for the sacrifices made by our soldiers and their families.  You might not realize it, but it's cold in the mountains of Afghanistan!  Just crochet (or knit) hats and mail them to the lovely ladies who run this organization.  They take care of getting them to the troops who need the warmth and the reminder that we remember them here in the states.
Please visit them at http://warmthforwarriors.com/

7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quick question about bath bombs on: January 16, 2011 04:05:33 PM
I'm glad you mentioned to add it to the liquids....I probably would have been dumb and added it separately or something!  Thanks for the advice!
8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Quick question about bath bombs on: January 16, 2011 10:01:58 AM
Can I use food coloring to color bath bombs?  Will it mix thru nicely, or will it just kind of clump up?  Has anyone tried this before?

I didn't use the SLSA either.  I might order some now that I've had a first success.
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Make a duck...or something... on: January 15, 2011 09:16:50 PM
My mom asked me to make a stuffed animal for a baby shower she's going to attend.  I asked what she wanted.  "Whatever...make a duck...or something..."  So this is what she got!

Used the basic body I use for all amigurimi, then was inspired by patterns I found online for ducks.  Hope the baby likes it!

( Now I realize that with the blue shirt, it looks like Donald...)
