11  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Knitted Humpty Dumpty on: October 19, 2009 04:43:51 AM
My cousin's daughter turned 3 a couple of months ago and Humpty Dumpty is her favourite nursery rhyme so I decided to knit her a humpty dumpty doll.

The pattern came from a book called The ABC Book Of Knitted Toys.  I bought it from an op shop for $2 ages ago and this is the first time I have made anything out of it.  She really loved it when I gave it to her.
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Purple Alice Mitts on: October 19, 2009 04:41:48 AM
I have been trying to use up some of my yarn stash before I go buying a whole heap of new wool.  I had some moda vera mousse left over from a beanie I made so I decided to make these fingerless mitts to match it.

The pattern is used is available for free from here:- http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/alices-mitts
13  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Knitted Christmas Tree Decorations on: October 19, 2009 04:39:38 AM
I knitted up 20 of these little tree decorations to use up some of my yarn stash.  I am going to send them to my various aunties and uncles with their christmas presents this year. I hope they like them.

If you interested in making some the pattern is available here for free:- http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/christmas-tree-ornament
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Purple Lelah Top on: August 25, 2009 03:26:15 AM
I finished knitting this top the other day. Then I had to block it and sew in the elastic. I love it but.........it doesn't fit me! Its just a little too snug around the chest area.

Pattern: Lelah Top (via Ravelry)
Yarn: Moda Vera Cotton Bamboo

I love the lace pattern that is used on this top. The eyelet pattern looks great once you weave the ribbon through. And the great thing with this is you could change the ribbon colour as your mood changes. I think for a night time top it would look nice with a black ribbon.

So all I have to do now is figure out what to do with it since it doesn't fit me. I might make another one for myself but I am not sure yet if I can be bothered.

Mod's Note:
Just a reminder, this pattern is available right here on Craftster!

15  COOKING / Dessert / Lemon Meringue Cake on: August 22, 2009 07:04:38 PM
If you like lemon meringue pie then you will love this cake.

It is a white layer cake with honey lemon curd in between and covered in meringue and it is AMAZING!

Everyone must have enjoyed it because this is all that was left after like 10 minutes.

This is the recipe here: http://thequeenofcakes.blogspot.com/2009/02/lem-lem.html
16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Simple Singlet Recon on: August 22, 2009 07:01:03 PM
I bought this singlet from the Lifeline Sale at the start of the year for $2. It was massive on me so I decided to do a quick recon and make it fit.

It was simple really. First I traced one of my singlets to get the right size and shape.

Then I pinned and cut along the traced lines. I folded the singlet in half when I did this to ensure that both sides were shaped the same.

Then I flipped the singlet inside out and pinned and sewed the edges together.

And just like that I have a new singlet that fits nicely. Easy peasy!

17  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Violet Lizzy Beanie on: August 11, 2009 03:02:14 AM

Pattern: Elizabeth by Jane Richmond via Ravelry
Needles: 8mm
Wool: Moda Vera Mousse

This was a really quick and easy knit.  I did it up in two nights while watching tv.

I modified the pattern to be knit on straight needles because I could not find the right size circular needles anywhere where I live.  It meant I had to change the cable pattern slightly but it is pretty much the same.

And a quick close up of my cables because I am proud of them.

18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Spring Floral Skirt on: August 09, 2009 03:40:54 AM
I made another skirt basically exactly the same as my cherry print skirt.  Except this time I put a bit more fabric into the skirt part.

I really like this one and think it is going to be great for spring.

The first two photos show the colours better but this one shows the detail a bit more.

I am planning on making a few more skirts in the lead up to summer.

19  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Denim Bag on: August 05, 2009 10:58:37 PM
I had an old pair of jeans that I could not bear to throw away because I loved the look of the denim.  So instead of tossing them out I made them into a bag.

This was such a simple bag to make and can be done with any pair of old pants.  It would be even easier to do out of an old skirt because you wouldn't have to cut off the legs.

20  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Pink Mug Cozy on: August 03, 2009 07:43:17 PM

A simple mug cozy that I knitted to use up some leftover wool.

I also used a leftover button from my Shalom Cardigan.

These would be good to use as extra presents to put into christmas stockings.
