1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Cowboys! on: November 08, 2004 09:59:20 PM
I've decided for my next painting project I am going to use my art projector to project stencils of some Western film actors up onto some canvas and paint 'em.

Two decisions:
Do I go with three Western icons (I was thinking Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, and Lee Marvin, or James Garner), or with The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly?

While we are at it, anybody happen to have any stencils of these guys kicking around? Cheesy
I have lost access to Photoshop for now and so have been trying to do it with that program called The Gimp (to make the stencils) but have been having no luck.

Enjoy!  Smiley  I'll be sure to post what I do.  I'm either going to try to tackle making some t-shirts, or use my art projector and do a painting, I think (I suck at painting unless it is tracing).  I really like the Thom one myself, especially because he is smiling in it.  But I was also thinking of doing a triptych (sp?) of Wyatt, Doc, and some other cowboy figure (I'm wriitng my thesis on Wyatt Earp movies).

I am not sure what I am going to do with these, yet.  I was just trying to make some stencils and came up with these.  See who you recognize!

(In case you didn't get them, they are Marlon Brando, Doc Holliday, Natalie Portman, Thom Yorke, and Wyatt Earp  Grin

I remember making these way back when.  If I recall correctly, it was when we were doing Charlotte's Web in class-- they were multi-coloured spider webs for us.  I still think they look really cool to this day.  Smiley

8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / AAAH! Art Projector! on: December 03, 2003 08:06:01 PM
I ordered an Artograph Jr Art Projector online last week and it arrived today.  I was quite excited, and had an old superman comic cover that I printed off the net that I wanted to draw out huge for some new art for my wall.  Had the thing on for less than five minutes and it died!  Can't get it to work at all.  I tried replacing the bulb but no luck...

Any ideas?  I think it may have over-heated but I don't know why it would have.  Like I said, it was on for maybe three or four minutes-- just long enough for me to adjust the projection to the size/orientation that I liked.
