1  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Decoupaging candles and trying to find a sealant! on: April 09, 2011 12:03:44 PM
Howdy boys and girls! I'm decoupaging some candles (you know, the ones that burn for about 24 hours and usually have Jesus on them?) I'm having a really hard time finding a sealant that I can use. Any suggestions? Sealant needs to be:

High-gloss
Non-yellowing
Heat resistant
Non-flammable (when dry)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
2  Texas / Texas: Central / Calling all Austin/surrounding area Craftsters! on: February 07, 2009 10:05:45 AM
I've been thinking it would be really cool to start a little crafting group that meets once weekly!

The members of the group would each take it in turns to host the group at their home, and the hosting member would make sure that everyone was informed of what the project they will be doing is and what materials are needed. Refreshments will be served, music will be played, and it's a great chance to meet some other craftsters and learn lots of new things to do and make!

Please let me know if you're interested. You can message me here or Facebook stalk me about it, my e-mail address is tattooedtriumph@gmail.com so you can find me with that. I will probably start it once I have about 5 or 6 people interested, so let me know!
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / I need a place for my record player! on: February 28, 2008 03:11:05 PM
I have an entertainment center from IKEA (heaven bless those people) that holds my stereo system. A few days ago I bought a record player and put it into one of the slots in my entertainment center. The only problem is that the shelves are a little close together so I had to take off the top of my record player to fit it in there, and it's a little awkward trying to slide the record in and get it on the peg.

I really want to have the top shelf slide out (kind of like a keyboard shelf on a desk), but I'm worried about how I would go about doing that because of the way IKEA makes their furniture. I don't want to split my entertainment center or anything. Does anyone have an suggestions?
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Fruedian Slip on: November 27, 2005 07:51:48 PM
Roll Eyes I'm such a nerd.

The words are backward because I used a mirror to take the picture. I got the idea from my friend Meagan and also heard of it from a guy that I know here locally. Very cool.

Tell me what you guys think!
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Sexy-licious wood painted on: November 27, 2005 07:21:48 PM
I bought a stool for my computer at the unfinished furniture store, painted it green, put a layer of yellow ocre on it and painted a replica of the Warhol daisy. Wanna see? Lookie!

The polyurethane made it look all shiny when I used a flash, so the picture is dark. I also painted these old letters I have had since I was a kid. Look again!

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / It's all in the jeans. on: July 13, 2005 07:46:30 PM
Hey guys! I painted some jeans! Lemme know what you think.

I used acrylic paint, then soaked a rag in vinegar, placed in over the painted areas and then ironed over it to set the color. If you'd like to see more, go to www.myspace.com/idigyourkicks.
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / New computer chair... on: June 29, 2005 02:43:22 PM
I want to buy a new computer chair and decorate it to match my desk, maybe find a cute pillow to put on it so it's nice and comfy... I can hand-sew but I'm not so hot with a sewing machine so I'm not sure if I want to hand-sew a pillow or just buy one, but what kind of chair would you guys suggest I get? I would probably want to paint it, but I want as cheap as possible. Thanks guys! -Danni
8  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Warped Tour Shoes- Painted Fun on: June 27, 2005 09:09:33 AM
So I painted my boyfriend's Etnies for Warped Tour. Let me know what you think!

.:Left Shoe:.

Sides:

The roman number at the side is his lucky number, 18, and the words along the seam are "I met a man who wasn't there", a line from a poem in the movie Identity.
http://pic15.picturetrail.com/VOL582/3242684/6630096/101982408.jpg
The words along the seam on this side read "Revenge is a meal best served cold."

Front:
http://pic15.picturetrail.com/VOL582/3242684/6630096/101982377.jpg
Texas flag Etnies E!  Grin That's my favorite part.

Back:

It's a little blurry, but it's a clover with flames around it.

.:Right Shoe:.

Sides:
http://pic15.picturetrail.com/VOL582/3242684/6630096/101982302.jpg
The picture on the back corner of the shoe says "Life" and "Death" with a flying hourglass in between the two, meaning "Time flies between life and death."
http://pic15.picturetrail.com/VOL582/3242684/6630096/101982284.jpg
The back corner is a Texas Longhorn, but I'm not so sure it looks good.

Front:
http://pic15.picturetrail.com/VOL582/3242684/6630096/101982246.jpg
Irish flag Etnies E.  Cool

Back:

That's a dragon on the back, it's blurry though...

There you go! Tell me what you think!
