1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects / Some random things I've done...rediculously pic heavy! on: June 10, 2008 08:52:57 AM
So, yeah...like I said in my other post...I just found the embroidery boards here...I used to be on Craftster a lot, but not so much anymore.  Just thought I'd share some things I've done.  =)  Just picking things are random.  =)  Hope you don't mind.  I'm mostly stalling--I've got too much work to do!  Warning...some of these pics are completely unedited...I don't want to waste time THAT much!

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects / Hall passes for teacher gifts on: June 10, 2008 08:31:04 AM
Hi all...I used to be on Craftster all the time, but have fallen off of it.  I just noticed there were embroidery sections!  YAY!

Here is one of my projects I'm most proud of...mainly because I figured it out all by myself.  =)  I had seen something similar to this a long time ago, but couldn't find them again when it was time for teacher appreciation week, so I had to figure it out.  The are all done completely in the hoop.  There is a layer of peltex, and batting in there to make them nice and thick and slightly puffy, and there is a backing to hide all the embroidery backs.  I used ponytail holders so the kids could put them on their wrists (they were first graders). The kids loved them...the teacher said there was an epidemic of kids needing to go to the bathroom all of a sudden when she got them.  =)  They have the teachers name on them, but I photoshopped the last name out.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / New outfit for my little girl..b/w on: April 29, 2007 05:42:03 AM
I didn't realize that this board was up at craftster!  I just had to share this one...I just made yet yesterday morning, and am so pleased!  Excuse my girls quirkiness...I took her away from playing house to try it on.  The pants I made a while ago, and had the fabric left over.  I love the fabric, and have just been waiting for an idea on what to make of it!  I'm really not a big clothing construction sewer--I usually recon them for her, although I make some pants occasionally (she's skinny and tall).  I do a lot of machine embroidery, and accessory sewing usually.

The pants have a--oh, what's the word...right on the tip of my tongue...shoot!--"triangle" of the white fabric at the ankle.  The black has a very subtle floral print on them...you can't really see them in these pics.

The lacing in the back is too close, so I will alter that so it looks better.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cats in kimonos--what else can you do but make a tote? on: December 29, 2006 01:54:34 PM
I found this fabric and thought it would be perfect for my SIL--I don't intend to always make her purses, but this was just crying her name.  What else could I do but make a purse?  I had a TON of stuff to do for christmas, so its very simple.

The machine embroidery on the front means "good fortune"  I have a bunch of character designs, but they aren't named, and this was the only one we could find a meaning for.

So what do you think?
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Last minute purse for little girls Christmas. on: December 22, 2006 01:01:23 PM
I found out like 2 days ago that my kids names were put into a name drawing at my extended families (we aren't going back this year <3 hrs away>, so we didn't think they were included-usually are, but I always worry about not being able to get the gifts back in time, and having a little cousin there with no present to open).

So, I had to throw together 2 gifts really quick.  I made this out of fabric I already had.  Luckily one of my cousins lives in the metro now, so he could take them back.  But of course they went back yesterday, so I had ONE DAY-yes, one day warning about it.

So here it is...Monogrammed K on the front, Pocket inside, Matching headband (that takes just a minute to make out of scraps, so I always make one for little girls), and some matching ponytail holders as well.  Hope she likes it!

Sorry the photo of the inside is so bad, I was racing to get it all wrapped up so I could meet my cousin and still make it back in time to pick up daughter--barely made it just in time!

The monogram looks better in real life, and the colors are more soft and romantic.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Rooster/chicken tote for MIL on: August 14, 2006 05:45:53 AM
Just found out this year that my MIL likes chickens and such--who knew?  Apparently the rest of the family!  HEHE.

So she has some funky specialty purse that she carries all the time, so making her a purse what a waste of time, so I made a tote--she can never have too many of those.  She uses all sorts of canvas bags for groceries, books, etc.  She is an environmental type!  So I made this mostly with her many many trips to the library in mind.  The little snap pocket inside is for her to keep a library card, or money or something.  So that she doesn't have to carry her purse for a quick trip.  I let my son pick his favorite chicken for that.  And it has lots of pockets for pens or whatnot.

Hope you like it--it's definitely not one of those "for everyone" bags!  Grin

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / gifts for baby boy.. on: August 06, 2006 09:25:43 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The girl that runs the playroom at my gym is being induced on tues, do I decided to throw these together today for the kids to give to her. I wasn't able to find out the babies nursery theme, and no one knew what the baby's name would be (can't remember what she said), so we decided to do just a generic baby boy set. my son helped pick out the polka dot fabric, and I embroidered the polka dots on the burp cloth and outside of the diaper changing pad to match..

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Customer order purse...ladies and dogs... on: June 03, 2006 10:03:04 AM
Here is a new purse that I made for a regular customer.  She always picks fun fabrics!  Anyway, has the lady outer, with a zipper top, and the blue dog lining.  The lining has divided pockets on one side, with accent of the outer fabric, and on the other side a zipper pocket.  The zipper top seperates, is black on one side, and has the lining fabric on the other.  The fringe is a beaded eyelash fringe.  And of course my logo embroidered on the front.  The logo should be smaller next time, I think.

She loves it, and even though she picks fabrics that I wouldn't pick, her purses are my favorite of the ones I make, because they are so suited for her!!
