1  Pow-WOW Time!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Exit22 on: July 13, 2011 09:52:36 PM
This is a long term project, but I figured I would share it with Craftsters because it's not a common thing to see on here. This is my father's regalia, Men's Northern Traditional regalia to be exact. We are Anishinaabe (Ojibwe, Chippewa, whatever term you may know).

This is on the clothing board, so the clothing elements that I have sewn include:
Ribbon shirt
Side Drops

We've also made the Roach (head piece), Fan, Bells, Sheeps (furry feet things), Shield, Choker, Belt, Flute, Staff, Rattle, etc.  Everything is done by hand. This has all taken like 6-8 months, but I haven't even started the beadwork yet, which will take years.

Hope you enjoyed this and learned a little about our culture!

2  Who Needs Halloween Costume Ideas? in Halloween Costumes by Exit22 on: September 29, 2010 06:19:14 PM
What were you last year?

I was a deer. I made my antlers out of model magic, and then painted them with acrylic.

I am thinking about being Belletrix Lestrange this year. Mostly because I want to give myself a henna dark mark tattoo.

What are your ideas?

3  Let Them Eat Seeds! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Exit22 on: August 30, 2010 09:52:06 PM
I wasn't quite sure where to put this, so I am putting it here.

This is my 2010 Crop Art piece for the Minnesota State Fair. I won first place in my category. She is made from 100% Minnesota Native Seeds. Peas, Sunflower, Safflower, Clover, Wheat, Rape Seed, Broomcorn (Red & Black) & probably a few more.

Here's my friend checking it out.

And a progress pic.

And my piece from last year.

4  Let them eat seeds! (Crop Art FTW) in Completed Projects by Exit22 on: August 17, 2010 03:30:49 PM
Crop art is kind of a big deal at the Minnesota State Fair. This is my second time submitting a piece. I won third place in my category last year.

This year I decided to be a little more ambitious.
Here is my piece, little by little.

I've done a lot more since I took these pictures, so I will post some more tonight!
