1  COOKING / Dessert / Rum Bottle Cake & Communist Cake on: October 06, 2008 01:40:32 PM
Yo Ho Ho, And A Bottle Of Crappy Cake Design

This is possibly the worst cake I've ever made (except taste-wise... it tasted like cake, and that's always good).  Wink I had a last-minute request to make a "fun cake" for a friend's birthday party, and this was happily devoured several hours later. The only picture I had was from her cell phone. Oh, well! Mixing the icing colors was the most fun.

Cake For The People

This was made for a friend's 4th of July party last summer. I intended to make the Kraft Food & Family "American Flag" cake (cake, jello, whipped cream, strawberries & blueberries to make the stars & stripes), but since I already had mandarin oranges on hand... Smiley This suited the party better, I think. The only problem was that the jello wouldn't set fast enough. Now, I'm known for being able to cook "anything" (as said in an awe-stricken voice by starving undergrads), yet I cannot get jello to set. While I waited, I despaired and drank rum. This resulted in me showing up to the party (via another driver, of course) already in patriotic spirits. Fellow patriots crowded the food table while I unsteadily sliced strawberries, and drew pictures of the flag on plates to "help" me.

Good work, team.

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: a Sort-of Rapunzel Scarf on: October 06, 2008 01:40:21 PM
This is a really good idea. A few winters ago, Free People was selling over-priced scarves that were kinda similar to this, but not crochet. They were regular scarves with the ends wrapped in plain cord, which gave them a similar shape to this one. I wish I could find a picture to show you. I liked those a lot, but this is a lot nicer, in my opinion. And I like that it uses crochet. Do you have an etsy shop? I bet people would buy these.

I think it's gorgeous, and cleavage or no cleavage-- it's still a classy design.

I'm sure you've heard this a thousand times by now, but these are awesome! I'm going to try making some for an upcoming party. I'll be sure to post a pic here for you if they turn out.  Grin
