I love zines. I think they're awesome DIY projects and lets people get creative on paper and write about their own histories/thoughts. If you don't know what a zine is they're self-made publications and can be about any topic. They can be basic folded pages with words scribbled inside then photocopied or intricate with paintings, collages and book binding. Here's the wikipedia on zines http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zine
The problem is that access to zines is kind of limiting, especially if you live in a small town. So here is a list of zine libraries (that I know of) in Ontario! :
Toronto Zine Libraryhttp://torontozinelibrary.blogspot.com/
Sheridan Zine Libraryhttp://zineteam.blogspot.com/
Hamilton Zine Libraryhttp://hamiltonzinelibrary.blogspot.com/
OCAD Zine Libraryhttp://zinesforlunch.blogspot.com/
Zines are so much fun to read and make. Most of these libraries have workshops to teach you about the culture and how to make one! I know that at the Toronto Zine Library you can actually borrow zines for a few days.
Hope this was useful!
