1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Black and white inchie frame - completing the trifecta! on: November 05, 2013 03:38:57 AM

It's done, I'm finished! Here is my 3rd and final inchie project. This is a black and white inchie frame containing 391 inchies. I made significantly more of the inchies in this frame than my blue and purple frames and I also received a lot from swappers on another forum as well as some from the excellent craftsters here. Unfortunately I don't have a list of the contributors, but I'm thrilled to say that Phizzychic contributed a few of these inchies (love her work!). Thank you to all those who contributed but since this frame has been so long in the making (partly due to huge life changes and partly due to my 3 year old managing to sneak away and peal half the inchies out of the frame at one point!) I don't have the list any more, but again thank you Smiley

And for those who missed them, here are the blue and the purple frames - I still have them and I still love them Smiley

2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Lucky dip ideas on: November 18, 2012 11:29:58 PM
I've just started doing markets with my handmade items. One things that seems really popular on other stalls is the kids lucky dip. I'm not sure if this is a world wide thing or if it's just an Australian thing - I certainly don't remember them from my childhood in the uk. But basically the stall holder buys a heap of cheap and nasty plastic kids today (like things some people put in a kids party bags) and wraps each one individually, sometimes with a small lolly. They seperate the boys and girls items and usually sell them for $2-$5 per mystery item. And parents actually buy these things  Shocked

Anyway, I thought I'd put a spin on it and make a handmade lucky dip for my stall. So I'm looking for ideas for items that I coudl craft for around $2.50 or less and sell for $4 or $5 to make a profit. Girls are easy - hair clips, necklaces etc. It's the boys I'm struggling with. Currently my only ideas for boys are a felt pirate eyepatch or a felt superhero's mask.

Does anyone have any ideas what I could make - I sew, embroider, make felt things, some basic papercrafts....I don't do and yarn crafts.

Any help would be much appreciated - links to pictures would be even better Wink

Details of swap:
Welcome to the ongoing inchie swap 4. This round has a little bit of a twist. You can request inchies, rinchies or Twinchies! For anyone who is not sure what and inchie, rinchie or twinchie is or how to go about making one, here is a great post on the papercraft forums by phizzychick (who makes amazing inchies!) http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=303188.0

You will need to make a list of at least 8 themes for people to choose from. I will put up my list first and will wrap up the swap by making the last claim. Once you claim you will need to craft and send within 2 weeks of the claim date. You can request 8 inchies, 8 rinchies, 4 twinchies or a combination (ie 2 inchies, 2 rinchies and 2 twinchies OR 4 inchies and 4 rinchies etc)

Everyone is encouraged to join. If you can contain your art to a square of 1 inch, you can make an inchie (or a 1 circle for a rinchie or a 2 square for a twinchie!)! With that said, please make your inchies/rinchies and twinchies with love and care. Whether you paint, print, stamp, color, draw, ink or embellish, spend a bit of time and energy making the inchies you send to the best of your ability. Everyone you claim should receive inchies you are proud to have made and would love to receive.

- Friends of craftster will be allowed 5 outstanding claims.
- People who have completed one swap or more may have 3 outstanding claims
- New swappers may claim once, and 3 times once the first claim has been received (once you have received a message from the organiser allowing this).

Once these claims have been received, you may claim again. You can make as many (or as few) claims as you want throughout the duration of the swap as long as you never go over your allowed amount of outstanding claims. (An outstanding claim is a set of inchies that has not been received; when that set is received your number of outstanding claims goes down leaving you open to claim again.)

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Next Ongoing inchie swap. on: September 09, 2012 06:02:30 PM
Hello inchiers, I'm so sorry for my absence...to say that life happened, would be an understatement!

I don't have internet access at home at the moment, but hope to be connected by 25th of Sept. I'm planning the next inchie signups to start asap (when I get my internet) with claims starting 1st Oct through to 31st oct.

Slightly different this round. You will have the choice of requesting 8 inchies, 8 rinchies or 4 twinchies or a mix of the above (Ie 4 inchies and 2 twinchies)

Same idea, you suggest the themes and inspirations and the person who claims you works with your suggestions.

I'll try to message all the regular inchiers when I launch the swap, but keep an eye here too Smiley

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Ongoing inchie swap round 3 on: May 22, 2012 09:25:17 PM
Hi all of you inchiers!

We are looking at starting signups for the ongoing inchie swap round 3 any day now. With claims running from 1st July through to 31st July. I'd like to stick with 8 inchies in a set with a 2 week crafting time, but I'm also open to suggestions if anyone feels we need to change something. We have shortened the claim period from  6 weeks to 1 month. I don't think this will affect our quality or enjoyment of the swap.

Looking forward to swapping with you all again.
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Felted and embroidered hoop on: May 21, 2012 02:55:14 AM
I am doing a personal swap with thesapphiremoon. I made her this hoop:

It was inspired by an image in her pintrest: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kaylacoo/3024828695/in/pool-54791047@N00/

It was made by starting with a felt background and needlefelting the colours on (thanks to ptarmic wumpus for the felting wool) and then embroidering over the top of the felting. It was one of my first ventures with needle felting and certainly my first venture combining needlefelting and embroidery. TSM said she loved it, so I'm happy!

ETA - I probably should have mentioned that it is a 7" hoop.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / speedy colour swap on: April 22, 2012 05:38:13 PM
I saw a similar swap on another forum and wanted to see if it might work here on craftster (where the people are much nicer  Wink)

This would be a quick swap - so 1 week for sign ups (or less if numbers are reached before) and 1 week to send. 1 partner each, and I will rty to group within countries so that postal time would be kept to a minimum too.

I would pick a colour for the swap - so for example the first one would be red.

What to send - Well red things of course - I was thinking that you would send ALL of these things:
-4 red fabric charm squares (5"x5") or 4 red sheets of scrap book paper (at least 6"x6")
-6 red buttons
-2 red lengths of ribbon - at least 12" long
-a red ATC or 4 red inchies.

For the charm squares or scrap book paper and for the ATC or inchies, I would ask on the questionaire which you would prefer, but It would be the senders choice.

This would be a series of swaps where the colour changed every time. Is there anything you might change? Anyone interested?
