1  Seraphim Wedding Shawl in Knitting: Completed Projects by spiderdust on: November 02, 2007 12:26:26 PM
This was my first big lace project and first time using blocking wires.  I'm ecstatically happy with how it turned out.  I've been saving this cashmere for a long time for something very special, so when my boyfriend and I decided to get married for our 10 year anniversary, I knew just which yarn to create with.  It is easy to work with and pretty much the softest thing I've ever touched.

I ended up using less than 2 skeins because I took out one pattern repeat thinking that I might run out of yarn.  I would hardily recommend this pattern for a first-time lace knitter.  I love this shawl so much that I just want to stare at it all the time!  It really made my wedding day even more special.

Thanks to Miriam for pattern help and fellow knitters for blocking advice!  Smiley

Pattern:  Seraphim by Miriam Felton found here: http://www.mimknits.com/
Yarn:  Lobster Pot Laceweight Cashmere
Needles:  US 6

More details to come on my blog!

2  First Intarsia Project- Swiss Pride Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by spiderdust on: July 17, 2007 06:37:07 AM
I finally took the plunge into advanced colorwork and knitted an intarsia hat.  I wanted to make a hat to wear while watching Roger Federer win his way to another Wimbledon title (and hopefully the U.S. Open).

I designed the hat myself based on the Swiss flag and I didn't really have any problems.  I was nervous about attempting intarsia, but it was much simpler than I thought, of course the straight edges probably helped.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out.  There's more info. on my blog if you're interested.

3  First Pair of Socks- Baby Cables! in Knitting: Completed Projects by spiderdust on: February 26, 2007 01:30:30 PM
I'm sooo excited to have completed a pair of socks!  They fit, they feel wonderful and the pattern was pretty breezy.  I'm hooked on socks now, which is a good thing since I started buying sock yarn way before I tried knitting them.  They're pretty short because I was afraid of running out of yarn and of course I didn't.  Any ideas on how to lengthen them from the cast-on row?

The yarn is All Things Heather sportweight.  More info & pics on my blog.

6  Candle Flame Shawl & Another Lady Eleanor in Knitting: Completed Projects by spiderdust on: October 23, 2006 11:50:42 PM
So I've finally completed this Candle Flame Shawl that has been looming over my head for a year!

I used around 5 skeins of Manos del Uruguay.  I know it could be a bit bigger, but I couldn't really take it anymore.  Cheesy  It's a free pattern, but the link is broken now.  I know there's a PDF file around somewhere.

And there's my lovely Lady E, which I think I just about enjoyed more than any other project.

I used 9 1/2 skeins of Noro Kureyon.  I think I'm going to love wearing this as much as I did knitting it!

There's tons more photos and more details on my blog.

7  Diamond Brocade Baby Blanket in Knitting: Completed Projects by spiderdust on: August 14, 2006 02:47:07 PM
So I finally got to give my brand-new nephew his blanket this weekend.

I couldn't find any patterns that I wanted to use, so I chose a stitch pattern from a book & added a 3" seed stitch border and viola!  The yarn is Knit Picks Shine Worsted in Green Apple and boy, is it comfy!

Winky liked to pretend the blanket was actually a mountain range that he hiked.

I've been looking at all of your beautiful clapotis lately and I realized I have never posted mine.  I finished it in April.

It was made with 2 3/4 skeins SWTC Bamboo in Bougainvillea & size 9 needles.  Dimensions are approx. 20"x76"

It's perfectly light and airy for a warm day, but has the right amount of cover to take to the movies.
