1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Puzzles, games, us...ideas? on: May 28, 2009 05:07:59 PM
As for the time line thing, I wanted to do something that showed all the years that we have been together as well (8 by the time the wedding rolls around). I was thinking of something like this:

http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/wedding-photo-crafts?lnc=cf8c139b22b1d110VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&rsc=lpg_favors-and-gifts&lpgStart=1&currentslide=8&currentChapter=1#ms-global-breadcrumbs

I wanted to show off our vacation pictures from over the years because we have gone to some pretty cool places. Plus we are getting married in New Orleans and then coming home for the reception. Thought I would add some shots from the wedding in there as well.

Games sounds like a good plan to get people who might not know each other to talk. I like the idea of leaving some trivial pursuit cards on the tables. I think I lot of people have also been using kootie catchers (is that the name?). I was considering doing a couple with different themes - like using them to foretell your perfect vacation spot, would you survive the zombie war, retirement plans, etc. Not sure if that makes sense in writing, but yeah...

Crosswords are a great idea and I know you can make some with all your own words/clues - but that might not work too well at getting the conversations going at the table. Smiley

I like his best. Smiley But it sounds really casual. If that's what you are going for, then it's perfect. Wink

I think that the line about "something like a wedding" will confuse your guests, unless you are only inviting friends and immediate family who know your situation well.

I am in the same boat. We have been dating 8 years and are getting married in August. We went for the classic wording on the invites and did the quirky stuff on the website.

Good luck and congrats!

I haven't been able to do any crafting because of school. So when winter holidays came around I really got to work. Here are four little guys I made during the break. All are from Japanese craftbooks.

I also made this little guy -- although somewhat earlier.

Check out my Flickr page for more close-ups of the stuffies. It also has the ISBN for the book that each stuffie came from on another group shot.

Thanks for looking! Cheesy
6  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Dead Like Me Swap (CLOSED send-outs 2/9/08) on: December 21, 2007 08:06:45 AM
Oh! I love this show -- and I haven't swapped in so many months that I'm really tempted. I am already thinking of things that I could make! Hmmmm... maybe Smiley

Geesh, who knew there were so many law students on craftster! I just finished up my first round of finals as a 1L -- so good luck on yours!!

I saw something similar in the butterick patterns, but obviously you are going to have to come up with something on your own for those pleats at the waistline. Those are pretty unique.

Wow - I would love to join this. I haven't done a swap in about a month but I'm in law school and finals are next week. I wouldn't be able to communicate with my partner very well until 12/14.  Undecided

Also - I would want to make something like this. Would that be allowed? I have patterns for other food items that I would love try out - like onigiri! Smiley

plumpossum - Not sure where you are in central Ohio, but Columbus has a pretty large Japanese population and some good stores there. Wink
