I'm turning my spare room into a crafting room, so at the moment I'm in the process of removing wallpaper and choosing paint colours. I painted this for when my room is ready. I'm so terribly excited! I've pretty much ran out of space for all my crafting gear. It's spilling out all over the house.

It features my latest sock creature. I've been making lots of them to sell lately as I'm doing a craft fair soon. As usual I have fallen in love with what I've made and so now can't sell him. He has become my new sock doll mascot. The phrase "From sock to squee" is something my boyfriend made up for me to sell my sock dolls under.

I'm usually crap with acrylics but I took it slowly today and this is where I've ended up. I'm stocked! It's gonna look ace on my wall.

I was broswing this board recently, late at night I might add when I stumbled across Inchies. Never ever browse Craftster late at night unless you want to get bitten by the crafting bug. I could barely keep my eyes open but I found myself drawing out a grid and getting stuck in. Thankfully I managed to pull myself away long enough to get a good nights sleep.

Anyway, I have been bitten buy the Inchie bug, as well as other things.  I'm quite new to paper craft, as my main crafts are generally illustration, shrinky dinks and felt. Never the less I decided to give it a go. I've yet to try decoupaging them, I figured I'd first try my Illustrations first.

I'd like to share a gift I have made. This is for my Cousin and her first born child Oliver. I've always wanted to try my hand at something that could be displayed in a nursery room. They are very straight forward and simple Inchies, but I'm super pleased at how they came out. I just have to post it now. 



They are made from Bristol Board, inked with Fine liner and coloured with markers.

The photo below are some other Inchies I have made. These ones are actually my first attempt. I used 140 Ibs / 300 gsm Water colour card, used Gauche to create a wash and then once they had dried added in the details with brush pens. They were great fun to doodle.


I shall definitely try other mediums at some point, and I have another set already on the go. Thanks for looking!

I've been indulging recently in a new hobby. Making cute dolls from odd socks. Its really fun! I've tried it before, but my first few attempts were pretty poor. Luckily I've improved with extra practice.

Anyway this is Susan, a very refined Hippo lady. Its quite amusing really, you never know who is gonna pop out of the sock till you start stuffing its face. Susan was my third creation and my best so far.





This is Corky the quirky sock Kitty. I made him as a gift for my Mother who is currently recovering from surgery on a hernia.



I love the detailing on his little paws. He is my second creation and has a few flaws here and there, but I adore him none the less.



Finally I present Pinkie, the Hedgehog Pin Cushion. I was in dire need of a pin cushion because I kept losing all my pins in my craft draw. Now Pinkie sits on my desk being decorative and very useful.

I was asked to make an Owl Costume for a school production. It took a couple of days and a lot of fabric searching but I got there in the end. 

The character is called Snowy and is the lead character.

The mask is made with felt and the rest is fleece and fake fur.

The child who is wearing it is the same size as me, which is lucky for them and tragic for me. I'm the same size as a 10 year old. 

I only just realised there was a costume section here. I'm in the process of making an Owl Costume for a child in a school play when I searched for costumes and found this area. (I'll post the owl later)

Anyway, at my place of employment which is a Primary/Elementary School we celebrate book week by having a full day of dress up. Everyone must dress as a book character. (I may go as the kid from where the wild things are next year. I went as the Queen of Hearts the year before)

I decided this year that I was going as Buck Beak from Harry Potter. This of course is a personalinterpritat ion of the character, but I was so pleased with how it turned out. It took people ages to figure out it was me underneath and  while very people knew what character I was I got a lot of attention. "Hey! Look at the Eagle!" The child I work with was actually a little frightened of me. Lol. 

I made it from Newspaper, craft foam, plaster cloth, cardboard, wire and acrylic paints. Took me two weeks to complete, and it was very heavy and uncomfy. 

My highlight of the day though was getting a lift home with my co-worker Nathan who was dressed as the Wicked Witch of the West. He was painted green and wearing a black robe. So there's me dressed as Buck Beak in the back, while he slowy drives through town tooting and waving at people. I'll never forget the moment when gleefully lent out the window to wave at some old people. 

Here's a Tiger cub I stitched for my Boyfriend's Mother this Christmas. (Its framed now, so you can't see the pink patchwork canvas) She loved it.

I couldn't find a decent pattern so I ended up making it up as I went. It was originally supposed to be a kitten, but I kinda messed up and it ended up looking more like a tiger.. so I went with that. Luckily for me my Boyfriend's mother loves tigers. Considering I fluked it I think it turned out cute. 

If I did it all again I'd add a nice dark outline around him.

I'm a long time lurker and this is my first project post.  

I recently upgraded my Ipod from an 8Gig Nano to a Mega huge 160gig brick, I mean classic. Since my new ipod is considerably bigger and heavier than my old one I thought it would be wise to make a bag for it.

Its made from felt and reinforced with plasic on the inside (the plastic is stitched inside two slices of felt for sturdiness and to stop it from scratching the Ipod)

I choose a cute design of a cartoon version of my Jack Russell Muffin, as well as a rainbow and got stitching. I pretty much made it up as I was going along so there are plenty of imperfections.

Theres extra space inside, so I'm able to pop my mobile inside too.
