1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / How do you organize your patterns? on: February 06, 2009 08:40:23 AM
So since my pile of patterns has grown massively.. and since I never cut out my patterns (trace onto Pellon), I'm always trying to shove those pieces in the envelope.  How do you organize, keep it all together, etc?  What i"m doing isn't working anymore.

I'm thinking of using the large manilla envelopes and pasting the front of the pattern on it.  That way I'd at least have room for all my extra pieces.

I'm looking for any ideas you guys might have tried out and are using successfully.

Love ammonia cookies!  Our neighbours growing up always made them at Christmas and sent over a box of them!!  Smiley  I got the recipe a couple years ago, and am yet to make them myself!  But I will!

6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Bought used serger... what next? on: October 24, 2008 08:12:38 AM
I think it's an older machine, that just hasn't been used much.

And yes, I've used a serger, only ever my mom's though.

By the way its a Singer 14U 234B.  Hope I did good at snapping this up... as I've been planning to buy a serger, and I figured for $50 I can't go wrong.  Especially since they said it hasn't been used that much, and that it's still in great condition.  (Really hoping its not a problematic model or anything - as I haven't done any research on it yet.)
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Bought used serger... what next? on: October 23, 2008 05:59:24 PM
So I just bought a serger off of someone.  They say its only been used a handful of times, gave me the info, and it has all its tools and manual with it as well.  Charging only $50... so I snapped it up. I haven't gone to pick it up yet.  But what should I do first.  Should I take it in for maintenance, get them to set the tensions and such right away, or should I bring it home, set it up, and play and read the manual a little first?
