1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / I'm so confused...Scrabble Tiles and Shrinky Dinks on: January 27, 2009 08:31:54 AM
Hey Everyone!

I am just getting started making scrabble tile pendants, and shrinky dinks. I have so many questions...

Is there a chatroom on craftster or a chatroom elsewhere that has lots of people?

I use resin for the tops or shrinky dinks and scrabble tiles...could I seal the whole tile to make it waterproof?

Are there cheaper ways to add nice looking bails to the tiles?

Has anyone made their own or know of alternative "bails" that aren't aaranku but still look nice and professional?

Where can I buy the bamboo tile mats whole from a supplier, not from ebay or etsy?

Has anyone tried printing shrinky dinks out on the regular shrinky dink paper?

I cover my tile images with packing tape so the color won't bleed into the resin.. is this necessary?

I have more questions... but this is good for now Smiley Thanks in Advance!

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Name Swap? on: January 10, 2009 10:25:18 AM
Hi everyone!

I was wondering if there were other people that love to make crafts with names? Like... wooden letters painted fun or basicly anything that could be personalized and had the name on it (pillows, hats, puzzles, signs, mugs...) ... I love to get items with the names of my family on it.. and was wondering if anyone else would be interested in doing a swap like this??
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Does Felt Melt ? on: November 13, 2008 11:20:42 AM
Hi there!

So.. I'm wanting to make some rice hot/cold bags for boo-boo's and aches and pains. I am going to make a pouch from an old bed sheet to put the rice in and sew it up. BUt I am also going to make a removable cover.. if I made the cover out of felt craft squares for the appliques.. when I put it in the microwave.. will the felt melt???  Huh I'm hoping someone knows the answer so I don't have to experiment! what about fleece???
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Boys Outfit from Mens Shirt! *IMG HEAVY* on: November 08, 2008 09:14:12 AM
Hi Everyone!
So I came up with an idea the other night and made my creation last night. I don't know if anyone else has done this or not..but I thought of it on my own Smiley I have been browsing tutorials and trying to find cute boy outfits to make for my 19 month old son. There are soooo many adorable ideas and dresses for little girls but the boys ideas seem to be very limited.. so I saw the tutorial to make dresses from mens dress shirts and came up with and idea to make it into a one piece outfit with long pants and short sleeves for my son. I like to layer clothes and this way he can wear it in the winter with a long sleeve shirt underneath and in the summer just the way it is Smiley I didn't use a pattern, I just layed a one piece outfit on top of the shirt, matched up the shoulders and cut around it adding about 1/2" to it for seams. I still have to hem the pant legs but wanted to try it on him first to check the length and such.. but here it is so far Smiley Please tell me what you think! Oh.. and Please excuse the wet drool marks.. he's teething! The shirt isn't stained.. just drooled on! Comments are appreciated Smiley

Please Leave comments! I would love to know what you think of it Smiley

6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / A Kermit Blankie to Match His Hat :) on: October 28, 2008 09:32:10 AM
Hi Everyone! I wasn't sure where to post this since it's a blankie to match a hat that I made earlier... So if it's in the wrong place I apologize! I am so happy with how it turned out. I origionally bought this paterial to make him this blankie when he was born but never got around to it... and ended up making a hat out of it in the meantime! Anyways.... here it is Smiley what do you think?Huh?

7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Wool Hats With Ears & a Darling Beret! on: October 28, 2008 09:18:01 AM
So I wanted to make some hats...I only had a little bit of black fleece left so I made my niece a Beret and the little matching flower with a button center in the middle (my son is modeling my nieces hat). I love how it turned out.. I've never made one before! Then I wanted to make a hat for my son and didn't have any fabric left. So I scrounged around and found a bag of old wool sweaters (I bought from the thrift store to make wool soakers) and cut them up and made some hats! I had one very very soft merino wool sweater I used to line the light blue small eared hat. For the grey hat with the big ears I used a red t-shirt.... I love how they turned out, and soooooooo warm and comfy. My very first hats like this Smiley What do you think?Huh?  Any ideas on how to make the big eared hat less feminine? I was thinking of putting an animal applique on it.. but what other animals have "bunny ears" but isn't a bunny??? My hubby says " You could make him a donkey....but that would make you look like a jackass!" ....haha... any other ideas???

8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / A Boy and His Tutu.... on: October 23, 2008 08:42:19 AM
So for my nieces 3rd Birthday I made her a Tutu! However... her brother has seemed to take a liking to it! When he sat down in his Tutu to play with his sisters new doll house..the Tutu came off and we brought out the trucks! Haha. My niece loves to play dress up and always has to put on her princess dress and "Gas Sippas" aka... glass slippers when we come to visit. The school colors are blue and white and thought it would be cute to wear it to the football games and cheer them on Smiley What do you think???

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Bottle Buddies! *IMG Heavy* on: October 22, 2008 10:08:39 PM
Hi Everyone! I just made a bunch of these and am hoping to sell them at my very first craft show this weekend! What do you think??? They are lined with felt and seem like they will help insulate the bottle. I also added a taggie on the seam so it can attach to pacifier clips... so it will also help prevent bottle drops/throws. I also think it would be a great idea for daycares (put the childs name on the embriodery). What do you think of these??? How much do you think I should sell these for??? I have no idea!

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Babylegs with Ruffles! (and others!) *IMG Heavy* on: October 22, 2008 08:24:43 PM
Hi again!

I'm making seperate posts so they don't get too image heavy and divide up my projects a bit! Here are a few pairs of "Babylegs" I made Smiley I screwed up the seam on the pair with the ruffles and came up with the idea to add ruffles to cover it up! I think they look adorable.. I can't wait until my little niece comes over and I can try them on her! the ankle band is under the ruffles so it shouldn't be itchy.

I had a fun surprise... I was in the store and all of the socks seemed to have "princess" themes on them... and came across a pair that was packaged in a way I couldn't see the whole design in them.. it said from what I could read.. "Royal P" , I assumed it said "Royal Princess" . So I get home and start to make them and am surprised to find out...it says "Royal Pain!" Shocked Hahahahaha. WOW.. those will be popular to put on someones adorable sweet little girl! ANyways... here is a few that I made.

So my niece Came to visit Smiley here she is!
