711  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Winter Weeping Willow on: October 02, 2008 09:48:53 AM
This is a weeping willow tree that I made from silver floral wire and some pretty iridescent glass tear drop beads. It's attached to a rock that I got at my local aquarium store. The person there called it "Utah Ice" but I have no idea if that's the actual name! I'd love to hear your comments and critiques! Smiley

Here's a close-up:

Lots of seamen. I always did like navy-themed cakes. Tongue

I like the dribble on the cupcakes. lol

For anyone REALLLLLLY wanting to learn about this more, there is a local artist (extremely local! he lives 2 houses down!  Cheesy )who makes these and he was nice enough to give me private lessons (He doesn't do that!) and he wrote a book. great for beginners. check it out.

omg. You live next to him??? I've admired his work for quite a while now, though I haven't bought the book yet. I'll probably ask for it for Christmas or something. Smiley

Ronda, this is a really pretty tree! How tall is it?

I make trees similar to this sometimes. I've never thought about mounting them on mirror. I like to go to this nice aquarium store and buy a rock that fits the personality and shape of the tree. The store has a great selection of different types of rocks and all different sizes- tiny to big. I'm going to make another winter themed weeping willow soon... maybe I should mount that one on mirror instead of rock this time!

I love the big ears. I think it makes the kitty look that much more quirky and cute! This guy's got so much character. Smiley

Yay! This is soooo cute! I love crochet, but I just don't have the patience to finish projects. Tongue You did a great job on this!
718  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / I'm new and so excited to contribute! on: September 26, 2008 07:12:30 PM
I found out about this site through crafty friends on deviantART.com and I'm really excited! I am a french beaded flower artist, which, I know, is not very common. I can't wait to share my work with this site and help other people learn more about my art! I am especially interested in making french beaded flowers more accessible and interesting to all people by creating a variety of projects-- anything from headbands and jewelry to wedding bouquets. I'm excited to get input from so many different crafters who can advise me on how to accomplish this. Smiley

Sorry for the rambling. Tongue I'm looking forward to becoming involved in this site!
719  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: "Snowflowers" and "Dea Verdi" **Very Pic Heavy** on: September 26, 2008 04:05:01 PM
The green sets are really pretty, but I definitely like the "snowflower" necklace the best. It's truly gorgeous and looks really expensive. Whoever's smart enough to buy it will be quite lucky!

cheersdarling, I definitely want to do some solid colored and go for a more "grown-up" look. Perhaps a chocolate brown ribbon with some flowers in shades of blue or teal. I'm working on a big project right now, so I've had to take a break from the headbands. Thanks for the comments!!! Smiley
