64  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Wire Trees: Autumn Gold and Laura's Tree (6 pics) on: January 10, 2010 06:14:42 AM
Thank you all for the wonderful support! Smiley

cinnamon teal, my trees take anywhere from 6-10 hours, depending on the complexity of the piece.  "Autumn Gold," for example, took much longer than "Laura's Tree" because I had to individually string each bead in order to create the gradient, whereas with "Laura's Tree" I created a mix of beads that I could just dump into my bead spinner and whirl onto the wire very quickly. I would say that "Autumn Gold" took at least 2 hours longer because of this.

I haven't submitted much lately, but now I have two new trees to show all of you!

This first one is called "Autumn Gold." When I think of autumn, I think of deep reds and golds, so I decided to tip each leaf in this tree with genuine gold plated beads. I think the whole tree came out looking really elegant.

This one is "Laura's Tree" because it was a commission from a friend of mine (Laura) who is having a little baby boy soon.  She doesn't like baby-ish nursery themes, so she decorated his room with trees and decided she had to have one of mine.  There are around a dozen shades of green, blue, and yellow seed beads in the leaves.  I also put a few creatures to make it more interesting for a child.

Thanks for looking, and if you have any comments, criticism, or feedback at all, I would LOVE to hear it!

Edit: I changed the full-shot pictures for both trees. I think they look nicer now. Smiley

I am definitely going to copy this... if that's ok? Smiley

Go for it! If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or in a personal message. Smiley I taught this as a class, so it's not like it's a secret.

I showed this to my boyfriend and he said, "Is that real? It looks photoshopped." That's how good they are.

I'm totally flattered! They are most definitely real.

What a great idea!  Are they the plastic ornament spheres that come apart?

Yep!

This is INCREDIBLE!!! That looks like it took so much time! AHH AHH AHH!!!

I can make one in about 1 1/2 hours, so it doesn't really take that long. Tongue
