1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Very Easy Earring Holder/Stand on: November 06, 2008 02:57:56 PM
I'm getting ready for a craft show and this will be the first time I am selling my earrings. I want to share this very easy earring stand that I put together.

I wrapped a picture frame in cotton fabric and tied string around to hang the earrings on. Very simple yet eye catching (in my opinion!) Smiley

Sorry I can't post the photo in here - i'm still new and it won't let me -

just follow the link:

No offense taken at all JillBoBill!  Grin You have to have the time to invest in etsy - and for my personally it's hard to find that time unfortunately.  Undecided

I love buying on etsy though! Too much actually! haha.

I have been selling my art on etsy for about 2 years now. Very slow going for me. If you have time and patience to visit once a day and list a new piece at least every other day - then etsy is for you. When I spend time on etsy and really commit to it I sell a decent amount but if I'm not on at all then I get lost in it all. It took me 2 months before i sold my first painting.

Smaller works on etsy sell better (i find) ACEOs, small cavas pieces, that kind of stuff. Shipping can be a bugger and people don't want to pay a crazy amount to get a huge painting shipped safely.

Ebay - Don't do it - evvilll. Etsy fees a bajillion times cheaper and they don't take near as much commission off of you. Ebay is ridiculous.

I agree with everything that JillBoBill said (besides the etsy statement) so I would try all that stuff too! Goodluck!

9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Re: Coming up with your own style? Any tips? on: October 12, 2008 03:28:42 PM
This is something that I have struggled (and still do I suppose) with for a long time. I was so concerned for a long time to create the "perfect" painting that I didn't relax and just paint. Once I did that and painted just to paint - without even thinking I felt this helped me develop my style.
