2  Poor unwanted stash buster Ray... in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by LadyFiasco on: February 09, 2009 02:19:23 AM
I started this poor manta ray for my man, right before my he decided that we were to just be friends, so the Ray is staying on my couch til he finds another home...

'Scuse my messy hair in the pic! (bit stressed of late!!)

Big thanks to Roman Sock for the best blog in history!!
http://littlegreen.typepad.com/romansock/a-manta-ray.html

Since he can't stay at mine, as good natured as he is, not to mention he listens to all my problems and gives sound advice, i'll be sending him away in a care package for Victoria's bush fire victims.

C&C welcome.

-Lady Fiasco.

xx

As a little side note, monetary donations to help victims of the bushfire can be made here...
https://www.redcross.org.au/Donations/onlineDonations.asp
select "Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009" in the first drop box
Thanks

3  Re: Cowl Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by LadyFiasco on: January 07, 2009 05:18:07 AM
I said i'd post twice, because Scotskipper doesn't have a camera handy very often...
So, you get to see my ugly mug in 2 different cowls... LUCKY!!

This is what i sent from Australia all the way to America...
(keep in mind my package wasn't quite as packed full of goodies as the one she sent me) Tongue

This is the Ocean inspired cowl...

The buttons are made of shell, and fasten like a cufflink, or, 'cowl-link' as my man refers to them!

I wanted to send things that are made in Aus, particularly the state i'm from, so,
I sent a couple of bars of delicious soap (i'm so lucky i have a friend that makes such gorgeous soaps), one that was also made with local honey and bees wax.
A candle that was scented like the area i grew up in (sounds strange, but wine growing regions do have a distinct scent, especially at harvest...)
And a selection of locally made jams, also from an area i grew up in...

Last but not least the local chocolate covered dried apricot and peach delicacy FruChos... YUM!!

I have it on good authority that the aroma of the whole package was delicious and she couldn't wait to get into it!!

so i'll do 2 posts, this is the AMAZING sunshine cowl Scotskipper made for me...
I had to take the photos at night, cuz it's just a little warm for a cowl during the day here, being summer and all!!

just look at this, i'm SOOO in love!!

It's like knitted sunshine!!

She also sent me two of the cutest little tins filled with all sorts of goodies like USA buttons. a beaded ring and hand made earrings (there should also be glow in the dark moon earrings and a beaded ring here, but i'm wearing them[and have been since they arrived], and not taking them off just for a photo!!)

also greeting cards and a sweet little paradise calender to track my crafting in...

AND a whole bunch of pages from an amazing book called "a concise history of costume"

SOOOO AWESOME!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH MELISSA!!!!

5  insomnia wall drawing in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by LadyFiasco on: November 28, 2008 03:22:08 AM
So, when i can't sleep i create.
Usually on my sewing machine, but instead the other night i drew on some lining fabric i'd blu-tacked to the wall of my lounge.

her arms aren't as lopsided as they seem, the fabric has heaps of movement.

Comment if you like, but there's not much to say.
(Please excuse my scraps bag in the bottom of the pic)
Thanks for looking.

6  Stash-buster memo board in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by LadyFiasco on: November 21, 2008 01:28:46 AM
So i attempted to clean out my stash today...
and i 'spose since i used some stuff from it i kinda did... right?
back me up here!!!

The fabric was an old sheet from a thrift store, cost me $1AU (thats about $40US at the moment right?lol!)
Old IKEA cork board, poly fill, stash ribbon and it's all held together with hot glue.

I used poly fill cuz i like em real squishy!

I poked 2 hole through the cork board and have buttons holding the ribbon bows on.

and a pocket, cuz i like them too!!

Hope you didn't find this too boring!!

Feel free to comment if you haven't used up all your memo board quips on the billion other memo board post here! Cheesy Wink

7  Not my garden... OUR garden! (massive post w/ tonnes of leafy green veggie pics) in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by LadyFiasco on: November 17, 2008 04:22:40 AM
I was a little unsure where to post this, only because once we harvest the proceeds will be going to charity, but since we're still in the growing stage, i thought here was the most appropriate board!

Anyway, my bestie decided a while ago she wanted to create a community garden that grew veggies for charitable purposes, and i just get so excited by growing things, i couldn't help but share with everyone on here!!
It started as a long, skinny, weed infested patch of ground behind the local library...

The tree in the middle of the frame is actually an ancient lemon tree that we figure has been there since the dawn of time!

The weed clearing began...

The tree in this pic isn't the lemon tree. This tree is the one thats to the right of the frame in the top pic... does that make sense? Just to give you some scope of the size of land we have been kindly leant by the Prospect city council.

All cleaned up now!

The weed mat has worked a treat, considering what was all over this place when we first arrived!

We got beds! (and tiny sprouting plants)

In the bottom left corner are some onions my friend had already been cultivating!

More sprouting!

Right down the back you can just make out our trellis compost bin!

Now we have plants!!

corn!

MONSTER Rocket!

Broccoli at the front and tomatoes up the back!

Better shot of the tomatoes!

Pumpkin!

Silverbeet!!!!

Thats no all there is tho, we've got all sorts of herbs, garlic, capsicum, potatoes, onions and of course the ancient lemon tree!

oh and this is our gorgeous mascot Sproutling...

drawn by our amazing and talented cohort NICKAS http://www.flickr.com/photos/grizz_mo/!

8  Re: Show Off Your Hair! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by LadyFiasco on: November 10, 2008 03:09:49 AM
So, when i was 15 i paid an insane amount of money for the worst hair cut of my life (even worse that time dad thought he was doing mum a favour by putting the fruit bowl over my head to use as a cutting guide!! hahaha!! Cheesy). so i went straight home and took mums pinking shears to my distressed locks and fixed my self up before school the next day and haven't looked back since!!
I've never had any training and most of my friends trust me to chop their hair too!!
I did this about a year ago, but its the only good photo of any of my self mutilation i have!!

cute huh?

9  Cute AND high waisted!! in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by LadyFiasco on: October 30, 2008 07:53:19 AM
So this was my first attempt at both zippers and gathering...
and darn it i think it looks pretty good!

Not so flattering for the old belly, but, i'll be wearing it with some towering stilletos, so no one will be looking at my belly anyway!  Cheesy

I left the edge of the black top layer raw, and just zig-zagged over it a bit to stop the fray, i didn't want it to look too finished... does that make sense?? and i still need to put in the little hook and eye at the end of the zip to hold it all together, but it's twenty past one am and that can wait til tomorrow!!

I ran some bias binding along the edge of the pink and white check underlayer, cuz i'm really not into hemming! so lazy!

and the gathers that i'd never done before either... turn out pretty good!

Well, thanks for looking!
(sorry that i waffled on a bit!)

comments and criticism always welcome!
xx

10  Sexy box pleat skirt (cuz i got belly and butt!!) in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by LadyFiasco on: October 21, 2008 11:42:35 PM
So i needed something pretty to wear out on the weekend and i've had this DREAM SKIRT in my mind for weeks...

I couldn't find a pattern for it anywhere *tear* so i took the plunge and started with the pleats...

please excuse my trashed apartment in these pics!!  Embarrassed

I figured i could just construct the rest of the skirt around the pleats! And since it was super stretchy material, it left a bit of room for error!

The front...

and the back...

since there was no-one around to help me take photos, this is actually me wearing the skirt backwards...  Cheesy
I love the way it clings and then goes all fish tail like at the knee... i'll try get some better shots, if any one wants to see them!

It's my first completed clothing project, so any advice would be awesome!!

Thanks,
xx
hahaha!
