21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: ode to joy quilt on: May 09, 2014 03:15:29 PM
This is the perfect size for a stroller quilt and to use in the carseat.  Love it.
22  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / The one I didn't want to give away on: May 06, 2014 08:35:30 PM
I love to make quilts.  And I give a lot of them away.  But this last quilt was the toughest of all to give up.  My granddaughter, Julianne asked me to make her a quilt.  She is a girly girl so she needed a feminine quilt.  I think the fabrics give it the femininity it needed.  It is Pam Kitty by Lakehouse.  I used a simple hourglass pattern.  I hand quilted it with perle cotton and added rickrack to the binding.  I just think this quilt is so sweet, I hated to part with it.  But I think the look on Julianne's face makes it all worth it.

This is so beautiful.  I love the colors.  How ambitious to try such an intricate block for you first quilting endeavor.

Worth the wait.  It's awesome!

So pretty and a great size to snuggle under.  And love the mismatched socks on the quilt model!

Lucky baby!
27  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What colour binding would you put on this quilt? on: January 19, 2014 08:27:11 AM
I think I would go with the blue.  Very pretty quilt!
28  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Where to buy charm packs? on: January 18, 2014 10:12:35 PM
I have bought charm packs from Etsy and Ebay with great success.  It would be a lot cheaper for you to buy the yardage and cut your own using a rotary cutter and mat; especially since it uses such a limited number of colors.

I love it, too.  The flower is perfect for the "grown up" part of her and the puppy side is adorable.  Turned out really neat and will last her well into her teens.

I really like the modern design of this quilt and the merging of their styles.  Such a lovely wedding gift.
