We have a guest room, which is made up of a lot of family heirlooms.  It has a tendency to look a little "country," so I have done a few things in the room to try to change this.  One of which is that I made this white boring lamp shade into a decoupaged arrangement.  It still looks a little country to me, but the other stuff adds to it.  I will keep working on it!  Any ways, hope you enjoy the idea!

My husband & I created this headboard to go in our master bedroom.  It is made out of plywood, quilt batting and upholstery fabric.  It was easy to do; however, it is definitely a two person job!

Because I am redoing a bunch of pieces of furniture and I'm on a time line we did the all in one.  It was very easy! 

what a wonderful idea and great way of recycling/reusing!  I will definitely have to try that!

My husband & I needed matching night stands and we could never find some that we liked or that we could afford.  Finally we found some on craiglist.  They just needed to be repainted and to have hardware attached.  Let me know what you think. 





I did add a little strip or stripe of "Cabin Red" to give it some color.  Eventually all of our bedroom furniture will be black and I wanted to spice it up a bit. 

When I moved out of my parents house and got married, I asked my parents if I could take a dresser they were planning on giving away.  Come to find out, it was the dresser that my maternal grandparents bought for their bedroom in the 1950s.  It was part of a set, which I only have the chest of drawers and the dresser.  The chest of drawers is too damaged to fix.  Any ways at the time, I did not realize all of this nor that it was once stained.  Once I did, I began to work on it.  Below are the before and after pictures of it!
