1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / NEWBIE Dressmaker needs your help! on: November 29, 2009 08:09:24 AM
I have a few sewing projects coming up; which include full circle skrits, and dresses.

I'm really inspired off the Jane Austen style. However I need you guys help. This is the look I'm going for.

It's like a Jane Austen inspired dress, but with a much more modern touch to it.

I looking for a pattern, however I can't find one that is similar to this style dress.

I want to keep it from looking boxy, like this.

I know the fabric in this pic has a lot of do with the way it "flows" and the hemline as well.  So maybe this wasn't a good visual to show you what I DON'T want.

Any tips? Has anyone ever made anything similar to this?

All advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Smiley

It is a negative assumption that sewing is just for grandmas. I'm younger than 20 and I LOVE to sew Smiley
