31  Pocket Fold Accordion Book with Matching Notepad in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by arabella on: November 05, 2004 10:59:31 AM
hi!  I'm still new to craftster and to bookbinding.  here is my latest book project.

I made this little "book" with pockets for my mom as a place to keep receipts (she has a small business) and jot notes.  I originally intended it to have more pockets but this mulberry paper wasn't so easy to fold.  The covers are mat board (bought a stack of ugly colors cheap on ebay) and the cover papers are... I don't know because I myself didn't buy them.  The inside is handmade thai mulberry paper.  the notepad is board from a cereal box covered in the same paper, the inside paper is cardstock, and it's sewn together with embroidery thread and my accidental variation on japanese stab binding.

next I am going to try tackling the coptic!

thanks for looking.

32  My first post!! Picture frame from a recycled cereal box and CD jewel case in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by arabella on: October 31, 2004 08:27:07 AM
Hi!  I just found out about this website and I've spent all my free time the past few days reading all the back posts.  I am so impressed (intimidated!) and very inspired by all of the great projects on this site.  I'm hooked - such great art and such nice people!

This frame isn't my finest work but it was a picture I had available.  I hope this image-posting and linking works...

I cut the frame, the back, and a stand from an empty box of Cheerios.  The "glass" I cut (using my scalpel) from a CD jewel case.  It had some scratches in it but you can't tell once it's in the frame.  I covered the frame in handmade mulberry/saa paper from Thailand and glued it all together using some multipurpose glue.  I left the frame undecorated mostly because I wanted the focus to be on the picture inside, and also because I couldn't think of anything I really wanted to decorate it with.

thanks for reading/looking!  I'll be posting lots of questions and hopefully new projects soon!
