2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / 1, 2, 3, 4 Euro Swap (SIGNUPS CLOSED, SEND BY Sept 27) on: August 30, 2005 12:13:22 AM
Swap name: 1 for the Money, 2 for the Show, 3 to Get Ready, 4 to GO  Euro Swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Spicey
Sign-up date range: August 30-September 7
Date to send item by: September 26
Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): nope

Non-U.S. participants allowed? n/a

All ages allowed? Or 18+? all ages

Organizer is aware of current list of "suspended traders"
list and will not allow those members to participate: YES

Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Details of swap:
This swap is open to all members residing in Europe only. (Sorry!)

You will make 4 items total for your partner with the following themes:

1 for the Money - not actual money, but a currency themed item.
Examples - bag with a (Euro) sign on it, wire-wrapped coin, drawing or handmade cards where the person is holding money, etc.

2 for the show - a themed item from your partner's favorite television show.
Ex. Charmed "Book of Shadows" purse, Friends decorated coffee mug, Lost tropical scented soap, T-shirt with his/her favorite character, etc.

3 to get ready - something that helps your partner "get ready".
Obviously, this could be subjective as in "getting ready for what?" for example, handmade soap, shower gels, lipbalms, or lotions and jewelry items, suggest "getting ready for the day" or" to go out" . Sleeping cap, sleepshirt/nightgown, etc suggest "getting ready for bed". Let your imagination run wild with this one, but not "too" wild. *lol*

4 to GO - a postcard representing where you live.
You could do a collage or take a photo for your card, for example,  as long as it represents where you are live and you made it.

A little message included about why you chose to make each item would be fun, but is not required. Otherwise you can just put which number each handmade item refers to.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Euro Themed Swap on: August 21, 2005 06:35:43 AM

There has been a lot of interest in another Euro only swap. Enough so that I think organizing another is definitely doable. YAY!
I'm thinking starting sign-ups in the next week or two and would like to know what kinds of themes everyone is interested in. The "10 Things Swap" was great because it allowed to craft specifically do that person, but I think having a "smaller" swap, i. e. less items, would be better this time around.

Here are some themes I'm kicking around:

1. 1-2-3 Swap - Send one large, 2 mediums, or 3 small items
"Large", I mean time spent on item for example if you are making a shawl or a knitted handbag, that would count as 1 and take 5hrs+
"Medium" might be a wire-wrapped necklace, sewed, hangbag, pouch, apron or pillow, things that would take between 2-5 hrs
"Small" - things that take less than 2 hrs
*I would love your advice on the time constraints of what you think is fair. Also, you could ask if you felt unsure which category your items fell into. If we did this one, I would match people up according to how many they were planning to send. Alternately, this could be a "themed 1-2-3".

2. Favorite Color Swap - I think this one is pretty self-explanatory

3. Fall into Autumn - a play on words *groan*. Obviously, a fall/autumn themed swap.

4. 1 for the Money, 2 for the Show, 3 to Get Ready, 4 to GO - Okay, this may or may not be a good/fun idea, but here goes:
You will make 4 items total for your partner with the following themes:
1 for the Money - not actual money, but a currency themed item. Examples - bag with a (Euro) sign on it, wire-wrapped coin, drawing or cards where the person is holding money, etc.
2 for the show - a themed item from your partner's favorite television show. Ex. Charmed "Book of Shadows" purse, Friends decorated coffee mug, Lost tropical scented soap, T-shirt with his/heir favorite character, etc.
3 to get ready - something that helps your partner "get ready". Obviously, this could be subjective as in "getting ready for what?" for example, handmade soap, shower gels, lipbalms, or lotions and jewelry items, suggest "getting ready for the day or to go out" . Sleeping cap, sleepshirt/nightgown, etc suggest "getting ready for bed". Let your imagination run wild with this one, but not "too" wild. *lol*
4 to GO - a postcard representing where you live. You could do a collage or take a photo for your card, for example,  as long as it represents where you are from and you made it.

If you have other ideas, please state them. I'm interested in whatever more people would like to do. I'm thinking I will organize one of the others that doesn't get picked that is open for everyone (everywhere) later on if there is enough interest.

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Euro Swap, anyone? on: May 07, 2005 05:29:45 AM
There seems to be a lot of "regional swaps" popping up lately, but I've yet to see any "European only" swaps. Is there any interest in this? If so, what sort of themes are you interested in?
I was thinking something "broad" sort "Euro 10 Things Swap", but maybe something like "Summer Fun" (just an example) would be better?
Let me know what my fellow resident European-based craftsters think. Cheesy

Oh, I would not mind organizing or if someone else wants to do it, that's fine, too. Smiley
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Need some advice - re: what to do with finished cross-sitch on: March 22, 2005 05:59:08 AM
Hi all,

I have this "stash" of small-sized completed cross-stich projects. I was feeling really industrious once upon a time and, well, that's basically the long and the short of it. Anyway, I have been using them for cards or tuck pillows, will usually add the person's name if it is a gift, for example.
Now, I'm thinking maybe some of these could maybe be used for pouches? I was trying to figure out the best way to do that. I came up with the idea of a sort of fabric "frame" that the cross-stitch would go into and be stitched inside. I am really not sure how I'd go about that though. Then I seemed to recall a product that makes the aida cloth stiff so that you can cut around the design without it fraying and then I could just sew it onto the fabric. Am I dreaming or does such a product exist?
Thanks in advance for all your ideas, advice, suggestions, etc.   Cool
