31  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Blue Floral dress/top with Waistband on: November 02, 2008 04:08:52 AM
I recently got this huge bag of old clothes from a ladys recycling...  Cheesy
And i found this really cute blue floral dress, but it was pretty shapeless, and rather long...!
Originally, i was going to just fold up the skirt, to make it puff ball, but the fabric was not having any of it... so I made the following !

I just cut it short, took it in, and lowered the neckline!

Im really chuffed with how it looks, although its a little to short for a dress, ( I guess you could wear it with leggings) but my evil mannequin Jadis makes it look more like a dress than it really is!

This is how it started life:

Heres a close up of the fabric !

Some more pics.....

Sorry about the sidewards pictures!!!

Comments/critism welcome !!
32  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Dryad Costume - Costume from scratch! Image Obese ! on: November 01, 2008 08:39:36 AM
Hi ! First competition entry, whoo!

I decided i was going to go as a Dryad this year, ( A chubby, joyful one Cheesy )
I was going to recon a dress, but while looking in my 'clothes to be cut up' pile, i found a toile of a dress I made while at college. It was perfect!
Just needed some tree-goodness!
So, i made branch/root style straps

And i painted some swirlies

It was a bit low cut, so I added some leaves for modesty !!
( With pins in still!)

So, heres the top half
( with a rune for the birch goddess )

The whole dress :

And me In it with my handmade, felted hood Smiley  ( Also a previous college creation)

A better pic of the hood

Thanks for looking and please vote!!
Hope everyone had a fab Halloween and good luck to everyone!

34  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Horrid metal desk + glue and magazines = Pretty desk ! on: October 19, 2008 02:01:33 PM
I decided I had had ENOUGH of looking at my horrid metal desk, ( and also, my bead kept falling through the holes!!)
As I was a scrolling through here, i found someone who had covered an old trunk in clippings, and a table in CD covers, i cannot find the topic now, (but i will put it in here when i do!) Anyway, i saw that, and KNEW I had to do the same !
So i searched through all my mags, and pics and started.

Here's what it looked like to start with ( sorry about all the rubbish on it....)

I then covered it in cardboard:

And covered it all in a map of Oregon Cheesy To remind me of my adventures !!!

sprinkled on some of my fave pics...

And it finished, with my wooden shelf, already packed.....

Heres a better pic of the shelf underneath!

I love my desk now, and pleased I have used some of my many, many clippings Smiley Cant ever be un-inspired now !!

Please let me know what you think !!!
35  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Corona Tartan/Check Suit ! on: October 19, 2008 12:38:38 PM
So, my brother was going to a black tie event, and wanted a suit that would make him stand out, ( To be honest, I think he wanted to break the rules, but hey)
So i got to work customising a suit he brought from a charity shop, unfortunatly, i dont have a pic of it before... im SURE i took one !!
He also gave me some fabric placemats he liked, Some really cool cream tartan/check?  so I got to work covering the Lapels....

Sewing them on....

I coverd all the buttons with Corona bottle caps, as the colours complmented the suit and tartan.

I hammerd them out, trimmed the excess, then folded them round the buttons, (very Fiddly!)

I also made a corsage ! Just to add a little 'extra'

Im really pleased with how it turned out, and heres a picture of my brother at the event ( he took it before i could take a picture of it !!)

Please let me know what you think !!!!
36  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled hair clips... on: September 25, 2008 03:56:32 AM
I wa son the recycling ideas forum yesterday, and was talking about things to do with bottle caps... I have LOADS so i though i would have a play !

I wanted to cover them, so i cut out some of the old mythology drawings from around old maps.....

Some i just covered normally, but others i hammered into a mini 'bowl' shape

Then stuck them to hair clips ! they arent amazing.... but i am still fiddling around and finding out what works !! Ive also done some with wool, which i will post later....
I would love to know what people think !! Constuctive critism is warmly welcomed!!
