Yay! I received from MommyTheMaid today! The cutest Santa Kitty

I made this from paper.  I designed the heart in photoshop and cut it out with my wishbade.  I guled 6 layers of paper together with eye pins in between the middle layers (can't see them here) and then used UTEE and silver embosing powder in it to make it shiny and interesting.  Its about 3" across.  I then strung it on some stretch cord with seed beads.

Supplies needed:

Cheap Composition Journal From The Dollar Store
Super Heavy Card Stock or Cereal Box
Glue Stick
Metal Foil Tape
Sanding Block
Permanent Ink Refill
Stylus or Something Similar
Bone Folder or Something Similar
Old Paint Brush
Paper Towel
2 Sheets Printed Scrapbook Paper

Directions:

1.  Cut out your desired shapes and glue them to the cover and back of the journal.  If you have a die cutter that works awesome too.  For those with a Cricut or a Wish Blade, cut out 2 - 3 of the shape from card stock and glue them together for more thickness.  I have a Wish Blade, and this journal was made with 3 thicknesses of the shape cut from card stock. (Also a good use of those odd colors you will never use anyway.)

2.  Cover the journal with the foil tape being careful not to get any wrinkles, and also beware that once this stuff is down, it is not coming off nicely.

3.  Burnish around all the edges of your shapes with the stylus and smooth out the rest with the bone folder.

4.  Now you can add any other dots, squiggles, etc. with the stylus.  You can also add writing with Metal Stamps.  I added the person's name to this one after it sold. I bought mine at Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=90124

5.  Now lightly sand the whole journal to give the metal foil some tooth.  

6.  Drop 5 - 6 drops of your permanent ink refill on the cover and then swish it all around with the paint brush.

7.  Wait about 30 seconds and then wipe it off with a paper towel.  This is really messy so either be super careful or wear a plastic glove because the ink will stain your hands and it takes a day or 2 to finally come off.  

8.  After all the ink is dry you can cover up the ugly folded over ends inside the book with scrapbook paper.  I added a ribbon under mine to close it with.

My poppet!  I have to say it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but... 

I don't have eyes or joints so I look kinda funky.

My eyes are just pins and my hair isn't attached.  And my dress is killing me because its PINNED to my back!  My mommy promises to fix my hair and my dress, but she doesn't know what to do about my eyes.  Maybe she will paint me some eyes when she gets up the nerve... 

She also says to tell you that she has never made anything like me before, and she made me from butter suede she bought at Walmart.

I made this for BF to keep his contact stuff in when we leave the house overnight. He loves it!  I triple top stitched the top for some manly details.  No lining as the pleather vinyl had a fuzzy type backing.

I made this Jordy type bag with a pair of old pants.  I unfortunately did not get a shot of the pants.  The pocket on the front is a little off center and the zipper was too short.  But I only used one panel of the pants - so I can make like 3 more if I really get an urge! The lining was also a recon of one of BF's old button down shirts.  No interior pockets, I'm not that brave yet! The fuzzy threads inside the zipper are removable - I had to rip out the zipper only once during construction.  LOL!

Hi!  I am brand new here!  I have been here almost ALL DAY!  I love Craftster and I can't believe that I've never come across it before!!!


I was inspired to post my fringe purse.  Its the first purse that I've made from scratch.  I got the directions on how to make it here: http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/cr_clothing/article/0,2025,DIY_13751_5904965,00.html.

It was originally supposed to be made from scarves, but I had this pretty fabric just laying around...

The straps are just the lining fabric quarter folded.  I haven't been sewing very long, so there are a few rough spots that I plan on working out if I make more of these.
