2  take on a family tree in Completed Projects by Kaiasmommy on: January 24, 2009 02:00:18 PM
While I like my idea, I feel like less leaves would have been better.  I do feel like the options could be endless when making a tree.

My SIL had a version of this idea on her babies wall.  She painted a full tree and pics of the family. I made this for her Birthday coming up in a few days. I decided to paint part of a tree on a 16x20 canvas in acrylic and then I cut out my own leaf pattern from scrapbook papers.  I then painted veins on the leaves with acrylic and attached them to the branches.  The frames are scrapbook frames that I left for her to put her fave pics in and attach the way she wanted.

3  Painted picture frames in Completed Projects by Kaiasmommy on: January 21, 2009 09:16:11 AM
I went to the craft store and bought some unfinished frames.  I bought some little things to put on them and went to painting.  It was fun and I made some mistakes and learned, which is what it's all about!

4  Mixed media collage in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Kaiasmommy on: November 20, 2008 10:41:48 PM

I will preface this by saying I don't love it.  I did however do it with my MIL in mind and her color palette in the majority of her home.

16x20 canvas. Newspaper print is from a bag I received goods from at a scrapbook store. Trimming it is a pearl teal acrylic paint, followed by circles cut by hand from pressed acrylic felt, handmade paper and scrapbook paper.  The flowers are paper and pre made.  The centers of the flowers contain either teal glitter glue or french knots with embroidery floss.  It's the first mixed media collage I've ever made so I'm ok with it but, it's not really my style as much as it was hers.

Thanks for looking

Melanie

5  Mixed Media Cherry Blossoms in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Kaiasmommy on: November 19, 2008 07:09:32 PM
Hello Everyone!  My name is Melanie and I live in Chandler, AZ.  I found this site a month or so ago and have been checking it out regularly.  You guys and gals have really helped me get my butt in gear! This is my first post and I hope it's ok to just post a project Grin

This is on a 16x20 canvas.  The limbs of the tree are painted in black acrylic.  The blossoms are a soft pink and a dark pink acrylic felt made from a basic pattern I drew on paper.  The stamens(I think that's what they are?)  are a dark chocolate colored embroidery floss done in stem stitch and french knot.

I've never done anything like this so I am quite please with it. I will post a collage I made separately.

Thanks
