11  Lots of plushies by a dabbler (pic heavy, sorry) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by deathchicken on: December 09, 2010 04:34:46 AM
So I haven't posted much of anything I've made here on Craftster before, but since I made a whole, whole lot for people for the holidays, I figure now's as good a time as any to start. I tried a lot of new crafts this year, including attempts at cute plushie doll-like things. Apologies in advance for poor photos. Please be gentle.  Cheesy

A married couple I'm friends with is kind of obsessed with squirrels and fuzzy creature. Therefore, I had to make them the following:

I used this pattern from we wilsons: http://wewilsons.blogspot.com/2010/05/squirrel.html. The tail in the pattern didn't work for me for some reason, so I made up an equally squirrel-like tail.

The next plush I made for my cousin, who is a second-year med student and I'm sure is familiar with the subject matter:

Meet Mr. H. pylori, inspired by ThinkGeek's microbe plushies. He is made of felt, yarn, and a whole lot of love.

The tag I included with him-- has a badly-printed picture of H. pylori in its natural habitat, plus a request for KISSES.

And last but not least, Borg Queen Gaga.

Another cousin of mine is very, very into Lady Gaga, and particularly is amused by her appearance in the Alejandro music video. Looks like the Borg Queen and all. So I made her one of her very own!

Awww, look, she wants to assimilate YOU.

Kind of hard to tell what all she's wearing in the video below her neckline...so I made it up.

Bad photos, alas. She looks pretty crazy in person. And lest you think I forgot the pipe she holds in the video, I...did. But! I made one out of sculpy just now and stitched it on, I promise. So there.

Aaaaaaand that's it for now. Making plushies is really, really fun, actually.

12  Rather picture-heavy...with bad pictures.... in The Swap Gallery by deathchicken on: May 30, 2009 06:03:01 AM
I got my package from the lovely angeleyes410!

Ooh, what could this be?

And the first thing is...

A shirt!!!

Here is the detail:

Next...omg, a pillow!!!

It has beautiful, teeny-tiny stitches on it!

Next...holy monkey. It's a beautiful green dress with my name painted on the back!!!!!!

It even all fits! I don't know how you managed that, angeleyes-- I have a weird-shaped body and it makes it hard to find clothes. :-)

Last but not least...

An adorable button placard with my name. :-)

And here's all my lovely loot! Nice summery colors. :-)

Thank you so much, Ms. Angeleyes/Mary!

Sorry so late (I've been out of town), but here is my last dotee from Ma Rut (who took a much better pic of it) in its new home!

Such nice stitchwork. I love it, Ma Rut-- thank you so much!

Here is the tattoo I got, oh, ten years ago or so on my eighteenth birthday (excuse the peeling as it was pretty fresh):

It's supposed to be the kanji for "beauty," ("bi") , but...well, I dunno. Looking for it on the intarwebz has me a little worried about that. At any rate, it's on the back of my neck and is about 1.5 inches high.

Fresh from the toadstool kingdom, it's...

...the dotee from kewlmomma!

Her little hat looks like a toadstool cap. Hee.
My picture does not do this awesome little lady justice-- the hat is made of a beautiful batik fabric that I want in large quantities, and the embroidery is very wee and cute, and and and it's just adorable. Thank you, kewlmomma!

I went to the mail yesterday, and what did I see? A little dotee just for me! (I made a rhyme! Yay I'm a poet!)

Straight from cowgirlz101, an adorable little black-fuzzy-haired cutie that will look perfect on the wall of the craft room that I am painting as we speak (oh boy)! Thank you so much, I love it!
