1  Florida / Florida: South / Repost: Fabric Stores in the Tri-County Area? on: September 22, 2011 08:34:28 AM
I know this topic has already been posted, but its been years since it was updated.

In South Florida, a lot can change in 6 months, let alone years! It's that time of year again, holidays, holidays, and more holidays. I'm sure everyone's working on Halloween costumes (I sure am), Thanksgiving wreaths, and Christmas presents/decorations galore!

Anyone have any updates on fabric/craftster worthy stores in the Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach counties? I live downtown Fort Lauderdale, and quite frankly, the Joann's in Pompano Beach isn't doing it for me!

(Currently looking for black velour"esque" material that doesn't look cheap for a hooded cloak... without real luck)

Halloween is coming up this year and that is such a great idea!  Who doesn't love a little Tim Burton around the holidays!
4  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Super Mario Bros. Mushroom Birthday Cake on: September 25, 2009 09:49:30 AM
If I were 7, I would have loved this cake! (I was a big Super Mario Bros fan too!)
5  COOKING / Dessert / Life's a beach! on: September 25, 2009 09:32:07 AM
As I've been spying on everyone amazing cakes, cookies, and other edibles... I've finally decided to post something.  Since my boyfriend and I are avid divers and spend most of our year in the Bahamas, I figured I'd make him a ocean/beach cake.  I made my own really light frosting, but it was a bit hard to work with and as you can see, it started to sag/melt a bit.  The goldfish crackers I used as my under the sea fish were really good with the cake - salty and sweet!

Next time I want to try and work with fondant but I'm way too nervous to do it.

Does anyone know of any great places to get random cake toppers?  I've seen what Wilton has to offer but I would like to find a place that has a larger variety.

Thanks!

That's wicked clever! Definately a great idea once the holidays start rolling in!

All are pretty but I love the gold choker, cuff, ring set the most! I've never tried anything like this so they look to me like lots of time very well spent.

Kind of a hard thing if you don't know how well each dog is trained...but here are some ideas:

With my little dog... as long as there is a lazer pointer around, she'll chase the thing forever. Maybe a small motorized car too!

Good Luck!
9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Steampunk air pirate costume! Yar! *more pics added* on: October 26, 2008 10:19:34 AM
Those costumes absolutely rock! You've got me researching and checking out steampunk stuff and now I'm obsessed! Halloween '09 is going to be great...even though its a year away.

I'm sure there will be plenty of Jokers this Halloween, but you being a girl and completely nailing it will put all the boys to shame!
