You did fantastic on your first cakes!  My first fondant cake was so crappy looking!  Well, okay it wasn't too-too bad, it was more that I had a heck of a time working with it!  *laughs*

I LOVE how you did that treasure chest.  Wow!  I really need to try that hand painting thing!  It looks so awesome!

That's totally fab!  I love it!

Are the characters made out of fondant as well, or are they made from piped buttercream?  I can't really tell from the pic.

That's awesome for your first attempt at fondant!  Truly!  I love working with fondant, never thought I would until my SIL got me into it.  Before that, I was really intimidated with it and stuck with only buttercream decorating.

Anyway, I noticed that you said you used the Wilton ready-made fondant.  Word to the wise, definitely try making your own.  Taste wise, the homemade is probably 100 times better.  Seriously.

I've done a glycerin-type fondant recipe as well as a marshmallow fondant recipe and they both have turned out really well!  If you want the recipe(s) I'd be happy to share them!

Again, GREAT job on the cake!  My first fondant cake was a disaster!  *giggles*
