I've been really enjoying looking around at all your great projects, and finally decided to join and share some of my own stuff. I look forward to meeting you.
This is my daughter Wyllow in her one of her new school outfits, we got the idea for these sectioned pants from the movie Dinotopia, I might just make myself a pair in Earthtone colors like in the film. I found a regular pants pattern to get the basic shape and just measured how big we wanted each section. The top is the only piece that's cut from a strechy material, it's about a 6 inch wide strip, cut a couple inches larger than her hip measurement. I folded it down so that it's about 3 inches wide and I put an elastic casing at the top only on the back half ( she prefers elastic to a drawstring anyday, especialy at school.)
My kids have hat day fundraisers at school pretty often so I thought I'd try a brim hat pattern that I've been holding onto for while. I don't like patterns much, and I enjoy the challenge of figuring stuff out, but I'm sure glad I used one on this. I added some ricrac for fun. The blue and green are wrapped around each other in a way that makes my daughter's initials WMWMWMWM (Wyllow Maureen) all the way around, she liked that.
Sorry the pictures aren't very clear, When I uploaded them they went from 300 -500 KB down to 37 KB. Hope you like them anyway.
