51  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / I'm officially in love with dotees! on: January 28, 2010 05:36:21 PM
I just finished my first dotee swap (well, at least all my partners have received) and I have to say this swap was the most fun ever!  Of course I had great inspiration from my partners, but I thought I'd show off my creations.... Wink

First one went to Ssmart...a voodoo doll

Next was a little skeleton dude for edelc...

then came the Queen of Hearts for nicc79

and finally a "flower man" for attackofthequacks!

Thanks ssmart - can't wait for the next round!  Cheesy
52  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Pom pom scarf on: January 26, 2010 11:21:04 AM
Okay - so I never thought I'd complete a knitting project - but after finding this yarn at a big craft show last Friday, I had to give it a try. (Red Heart "Pom a doodle")  Maybe not perfect - but with all those pom poms, no one will ever be able to tell. Cheesy
53  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Coffee sleeve with a message anyone? on: December 29, 2009 09:38:15 PM
I have a friend who is a "bee hobbyist"? (Not sure what she calls herself, but she has a couple of hives that she tends and eventually hopes to get honey from.)  ANYWAY...this was a little something I came up with to give as a Christmas gift, made of cotton and fleece with a sterling charm.  It closes with two vintage buttons I failed to take a picture of. Its message refers to the disturbing decline in bee populations which will affect pollinization, which will affect food supplies, etc, etc.....  Pretty deep for a coffee sleeve!!

54  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Memorial for Ben on: December 19, 2009 05:44:11 PM
I painted this for some friends whose dog Ben (or Benners as they called him) said he was "the best dog anyone could ever have".) He lived to a ripe old age and passed away a couple of years ago. They have two new labs that they rescued, and they love them to pieces, but Ben remains special in their hearts.

55  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Little old elf ornament on: December 12, 2009 01:05:54 PM
Okay - I made this little guy for the ornament swap.  He's polymer clay and his clothes are made from a little pair of knit gloves.  Smiley
56  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / OH MY!! A Sewing Kit! on: November 27, 2009 11:00:18 AM
Per request I'm posting a Pic of a sewing kit I put together for a recent craft swap.  It's based on an Elinor Peace Bailey pattern that I lost long ago - but I think it's pretty close - I winged it this time.  Needles are stashed under the curtains, scissors in the toilet tank, safety pins under the lid, a seam ripper in the tp roll and there's a pocket in the back for thread, measuring tape and misc.  Smiley

57  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Bird Mobile! on: September 30, 2009 11:34:55 AM
I got this idea (and the little bird pattern) off of Spool.  Fun and easy - at least until you get up to the balancing part - a great way to use up lots of bits and pieces from your fabric stash!  Smiley
I had a hard time getting a good shot - finally hung it in the doorway.  This one will be going to Florida to live with my sister - her month-late birthday present!

Grrrr - this is completely in the WRONG place - I'm sure someone will be kind enough to boot it into the right compartment!  Sorry about that!
58  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Barefoot sandals on: September 21, 2009 05:40:28 PM
I'm not much of a beader and I know these have probably been posted a bunch of times, but here's my go at barefoot sandals.  A good friend of mine wanted a pair for a beach wedding she's going to in Cabo.  They are very pretty on, and if it weren't for my big feet with a broken toe you might be able to tell. Cheesy  They are made with purple, irridecent purple, clear & silver beads and pearls. A pretty simple project - they sell for between $40-$60 on the internet, so she got a deal having me make them for her! Wink

59  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Wild Things Shoes on: August 16, 2009 10:11:51 PM
-per my daughter's request....I thought about adding more to them, but when I finished Max and the one monster I didn't want to clutter them up....anyway, here they are - thanks for the look!  Smiley

60  COOKING / Dessert / Deep Dish Apple Pie on: August 02, 2009 09:46:11 PM
Here's a collaboration between my daughter and me.  She has the knack for homemade pie crust so I leave that to her.  After rolling it out and putting the bottom crust in we filled it with 9 cups (3 lbs) of granny smith and Jonagold apples, a cup of dark brown sugar, a few tablespoons of flour, 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg.  Popped the top crust on, slit it all around, gave it an egg wash and sprinkled with sugar then baked for about 45 minutes. (425 for 15 minutes and 375 for the rest of the time.)  It's delicious!  (Would have gotten a shot of the inside but we brought it to a dinner party and I didn't have a chance. Smiley
